Hi I'm Gayle

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, lived in Colorado, and now I live in Alaska. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of 4 children and 4 step children and I currently have 5 grandchildren -- hoping for more soon. I worked for my husband in his law office for almost 20 years. I have also worked in a doctor's office, at K-Mart, for the telephone company on a long-distance switchboard and one of my favorites -- for a florist making corsages for Mother's Day and Easter. I also teach piano lessons. I love working in my garden, playing the piano and reading. My husband and I like to watch baseball games in the summer, football games in the fall, and eat sushi every Friday night.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents, grandparents, and great grandparents for many generations were all members of the church. I thought everyone was a Mormon until I was about 7 years old. My parents taught me what it means to be a Mormon. I chose to remain a Mormon because it gives my life meaning, brings me peace, and makes me happy. Everyone needs faith, friends and a chance to serve others. The church provides me with all of these things. One of our grandsons died when he was about 2 months old. Understanding that families will be together again in the next life was comforting and eased our loss. I'm grateful for that knowledge.

How I live my faith

I love serving in the church because I've made wonderful friends and learned so much. When I was 12 years old I played the piano in Sunday School which gave me lots of self-confidence. Since then I have worked with cub scouts, taught children, played the organ, accompanied the choir, and been in charge of many organized events -- including week-long summer camps for girls 12-18 years old. I taught a scripture study class to a group of more than 25 high school students at 6:00 a.m. every morning school is in session. I loved it. I love them.
