Hi I'm Porter

I love my country, my fellowmen, my family, and my God. I'm a chemical engineering student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Christian, I love the Lord for what He has done for me, and I'm grateful for my membership in His Church. I love the world, and I want all people to have the opportunity to live in happiness and fulfillment. I believe this is possible through Christ, and that, for this to be realized, God's children need to make Him the King of their individual lives.. My life is governed by my desire to make Christ my King. I’m the son of amazing parents and the oldest of four siblings (two sisters and a brother). I love the stalwart people who have lived before me and helped create the world I enjoy, especially the members of the Church and the founders and defenders of our country, the United States of America. I am currently working to complete a degree in chemical engineering and I plan to serve professionally in the Navy, and then on to medical school. Helping people be whole and happy is my passion! I believe that the family is divinely appointed and I look forward to establishing a family of my own, when that time comes. I love playing the piano. 'Claire de Lune' is my next big project! (tips?) Love Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin. I was once too committed to football and I still love athletics of all kinds. I love the Spanish-speaking people of the world and I'll hablar some Espanol with you any chance I get! I'm also determined to jiang some Zhong Wen! Why I am a Mormon

I love the truth. I am innately driven to obtain it, and I have been as long as I can remember. I’ve learned that there truly is a God, the creator of all things, that all people are His children, and that our current existence is part of His plan for us. My pursuit of truth led me to Jesus the Christ and I know that He is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. He introduced me to light and grace. I found Him and His grace through His Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was raised in a faithful Latter-day Saint home and was there taught how to obtain truth for myself. To the degree that I've been truly committed to it, the Church has facilitated my personal conversion to the Lord Jesus Christ. Independent of any other person on earth, I know that Jesus is the Redeemer, that His Church is real, and that I have an eternal destiny. I've learned, and will continue to learn, that Christ is the answer. He is goodness and happiness, everything that really means anything to everyone on earth. That’s ultimately why I’m a member of His Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints!

How I live my faith

I take the name of Christ upon me, and I strive to follow Him. I begin by submitting my will to the will of our Heavenly Father completely, remembering that I am nothing of myself, striving to be broken hearted and contrite, and willing to do whatever He wants me to do. In exchange, He sends me His grace and He tells me what He wants me to do by His living and departed prophets, and through His Holy Spirit. Sometimes He simply gives me confidence that I will know what to do. Then, with my focus on the Savior of the world and relying on His bounteous grace, I try to live every day of my life actively engaged in doing what I know my Heavenly Father wants me to do. Though I am weak, by the power of Christ, I can stand as a witness of Him wherever I am and whatever I’m doing, and He knows that it is because of His love, and because I love Our Father and His children, that I choose to live this way.
