Hi I'm Dave!

My story isn't one of great accomplishment or influence, but IS one of miracles. The miracle of change in my life! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in the Methodist Church. My family attended worship services every Sunday in our small suburban Ohio community. As a teenager, it was rare that I would ever miss church (only when I was sick). I love basketball and have a diverse taste in music... from Classic Rock to Alternative to Jazz to Classical. In business and with family, I've been to 48 out of the 50 United States. By far, my favorite travel is with my family. Even though I'm an "empty nester" now, I'm a father of four (3 girls and 1 boy) and have been married to my high school sweetheart for 33 years! It is great to see my children getting a good education, becoming productive citizens, and serving others. Seeing my 2 grandsons is a joy in my life right now!

Why I am a Mormon

My grandmother predicted that I would be a minister when I grew up. As it turned out, she was right! I found The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a 19 year old college student and, after being a member for 13 months, served as a full-time missionary for the Church. Not only was that a privilege to represent the Lord Jesus Christ for 2 years in that capacity, but I later was called to serve as a bishop for the Church in my hometown in Ohio. My grandmother was definitely inspired! The reason I joined the Church was because of the Holy Spirit. After meeting with missionaries from the Church, they asked me to offer a prayer. I had never really done that in front of people before. Only to myself in silent prayer. When I finished kneeling in vocal prayer, the Spirit whispered to my heart that there indeed was a prophet alive on the face of the earth again... before I had even gotten up off my knees! To me, that was a miracle. To others, the miracle may have been the positive change that took place in my life from that moment forward. I was baptized and began to stand as a witness of Christ to my family and to my friends who had known me for years. They saw the difference in my life. They saw I was happy and that I was confident that I had done the right thing. It was the example of others that prompted me to look into the Church and talk with the missionaries. However, it was the Holy Ghost -- testifying to my soul that what I was learning is true -- that had the power of conversion. The power to help me to change for the better. Through this initial experience and many other sacred events that have occurred, I have developed a deep testimony and conviction that Jesus is the Christ, the Redeemer of all mankind... and of me personally. Truly a miracle in my life!

How I live my faith

I volunteer on the Boy Scout Troop Committee, helping young men with their Eagle Scout projects. In addition, I volunteer as an Employment Specialist, working with those who are actively (or just passively) searching for a new job. Things like reviewing resumes, highlighting ways to network with people who can help connect them to potential jobs or employers, and just provide general direction and encouragement. It is sorely needed in these tough economic times. I serve the Lord as a local leader in our area, working alongside men and women who love God and know that Jesus Christ is their Savior. My full-time work is in technology sales and sales management. As such, I get to meet hundreds of people. I always try to be an example of a Christ-like life so that they might have a desire to know what makes me so happy. I am always striving to conduct business with integrity, no matter what others might choose to do. With my family, I hold daily prayer where each of us take turns pleading with our Heavenly Father for each other's welfare and for the things we are thankful for and things we feel we need. At this time, we especially pray for our son who is serving as a missionary... doing the same thing for others that was done for me by sharing the good news of the restoration of the Gospel in these latter days. Life has not always been easy, but working our way through the trials of life has been so much easier with the direction of the Holy Ghost, the voice of true prophets of God, and the testimony of the risen Christ to give us hope... both to carry on in this life and to look forward to God's love and eternal blessings. I don't know where I would be without the Restored Gospel in my life!
