Hi I'm Samuel

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Rivers and streams held my interest early in life, but as I grew, my intersts evolved from rivers to rocks. These intersts also guided my activities as a youth, from building small dams on the creek near my home, to fly fishing, and finally to bigwall free climbing. When I was 19 I came down from the rocks and went to Portugal for two years to share my faith with those who cared to listen. Few people were interested in my religion, but I grew immeasurably as a result of the experience. After returning home, I spent a short time climbing at a feverish pace, then attended college, married, and became a civil engineer. My wife and I have three sons (including a set of twins) and a daughter. I now spend all of my time either at work or with my family, but thoughts of dizzying wind swept rock faces still float through my mind on occasion.

Why I am a Mormon

I adhere to the gospel of Jesus Christ because this life is too short to avoid it. My hopes for life extend beyond 30 to 100 years on this rock, and the only way that I have found to achieve lasting fulfillment is by following Heavenly Father's Plan of Happiness.

How I live my faith

Honesty, humility, and honor are virtues that I aspire too. At home I have the responsibilty of being a husband and father of four. Currently I also have the responsibility to help the Boy Scouts in my neighborhood continue to advance toward the Eagle Scout rank. This involves working with individual scouts to help them meet their advancement goals, and organizing board of reviews and court of honors.
