Hi I'm Shantelle

I'm a wife, a soon-to-be mom, a student, a musician, a blogger, a daughter of God. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the second of eleven children, two of which were adopted from Africa. I was born in Utah and have since lived in Illinois, Indiana, and Idaho. I love different things about each of these places. Mostly, I just love people, nature, and music. I got married 9 months ago in the Nauvoo, Illinois Temple to my wonderful husband and now we are expecting our first little one in a few months. I love being a wife and I am so excited to be a mom! I love to write about my life adventures in my journal and on my blog. I love to laugh and find joy in life. I love to learn and to share what I learn with others. I love to cook and clean, make music and make crafts. I am blessed with a wonderful life!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true! I know that the Book of Mormon is true. It is the most inspiring and uplifting book I've ever read. When I need comfort, hope, peace, happiness, or strength, I can always come to this book and find exactly what I need. Every time I get done reading the Book of Mormon, I want to do better and be better. I also know that Thomas S. Monson is our prophet today. I love hearing him speak at General Conference because I know that he was called of God to lead our church. I know that prayers are heard and answered, because mine are answered every day. I know that families can be together forever. I know that my Savior died for me and that he understands everything I go through. I know that if I live my life with virtue, I can return to live with my Heavenly Father someday!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by surrounding myself with service. I have found opportunities to serve in my church, school, and community and I love it, because when I serve, I know I am doing what Christ would do if He were here. I feel Him with me when I try to share His love with those around me. Being a Mormon is more than just going to church on Sunday. It's living every day and every moment just like Christ would. I live my faith by doing what I should and that is what makes me a Mormon.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

When I go outside and look at all the trees, birds, clouds, flowers, stars, waterfalls, and mountains, I know that there must be a God who created them. When I am alone in the silence, I feel close to God and I know that He is there with me. I know He is real when I talk to Him through prayer and those prayers are answered. I know there is a God because He sent me here and I feel His love all around me. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

YES! We are Christians, because we believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. I love Him and I look to Him as an example of how I should live my life. He has given me the best gift anyone could give and that is the gift of repentance. He gave me the power to change and to be better when I make mistakes. I am a Mormon and I am a Christian! What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

The purpose of life is to become who God created us to be and return to live with Him. He has given each of us our own gifts and it is our responsibility to develop those talents and use them to serve Him. This is also our time to prove our strength and our faith by being tested. Everyone faces difficult trials, but we can choose how to react to them, either with anger and bitterness or with an open heart and trust in God. It is my personal testimony that when we put full trust and faith in God, He will help us change our weaknesses to strengths. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Faith is believing in something even though you can't see it. I have never seen God and yet I have faith that He is real and that He loves me. I have faith that my Savior died for me so that I can return to live with Him someday. My faith grows as I read the Book of Mormon and Bible and pray. Faith is beautiful because it is personally developed over time until it becomes a sure knowledge, or a testimony. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Just because I was born into a Mormon family does not mean that I didn't have to find out for myself if this church is true. I prayed and asked God to let me know if it was true. After I studied and asked, He filled my heart with the most overwhelmingly peaceful feeling. I felt the Spirit testify to me that this church is His church. I cannot deny that feeling because it was from God. He answered my prayer and will answer any prayer that is said with faith. Show more Show less
