Hi I'm Mikey

I'm a Canadian, a musician, I work in airline software and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've always connected with music in a way that probably seemed strange to other people. I could spend all day in my room listening to the same album over and over. In school I used to write song lyrics all over my binders and since then I havent been able to stop. I've been in a few bands, I play a few instruments, I've opened for some of my heroes and I've published articles in a few music magazines. I currently work for a software firm that specializes in designing software for small to medium airlines. My career is something I truly love and feel so blessed to have.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon has brought me a happiness and peace that I've never been able to find in any other place. My entire life I've had the opportunity to take part in things that the world told me would bring happiness, but nothing has ever compared to the joy I feel when I'm in the service of my father in heaven. Through study and prayer I have come to know in my heart that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It has transformed my life in ways that I would have never considered. I've come to understand that God still speaks to his people through prophets today. That his son, Jesus Christ suffered my sins so that I could return to live with him is the greatest truth I could ever know. The knowledge I have gained by being a Mormon has made me happier than anything I've ever experienced.

How I live my faith

I love the fact that everybody has such different strengths and talents which cause allow us to grow and work together. I've been able to use my technical skills many times in order to set-up and run the PA System and Lighting for many church events. It's really wonderful to see a system in which everybody has something the contribute and offer. This is not a passive faith. It's one where everybody has an important role. Being a member of this faith is being a member of a community. More than that, I live my faith by trying to attend as many church activities as I can. I like to organize group outings to restaurants or maybe have a bunch of friends over for board games. I want to make sure that everybody feels loved and important because I know that as children of God, we all have limitless potential. I consider it a personal goal to remind people of that fact when they forget it. As a result I really live my faith by trying to keep an eye out for the person in need. That person who feels alone. I try to do what I can to help them realize that not only are they loved, but they are an essential part of a wonderful family who values everything they have to offer.
