Hi I'm Dylan

I love my family, helping others, and sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband to my beautiful wife, and a father to our 18 month old daughter. After graduating with an MPA degree, I work as a planning and policy specialist in my State's Emergency Management Agency. I love to help people and volunteer when I can with nonprofits or friends in need. When I have time I love to play sports, basketball, football, ultimate frisby.

Why I am a Mormon

The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, it compliments the Bible to teach us how to have joy in this life by following Christ's example and teachings. I prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was from God and if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was His church. I know from a personal witness and answer to my prayers that it is His church and that the Book of Mormon is true. Because of that witness I live to serve my Savior.

How I live my faith

I feel like the most important way I live my faith is in our home. We read the Bible and Book of Mormon as a family, we pray together, we have family home evening together. We try to teach our young daughter who Jesus Christ is and why he is important. I also try to live my faith wherever I go. To me that means following in the Saviors footsteps, being honest, working hard, being a friend, helping others, not cursing or going places that be offensive to the Lord. On top of those things I also was asked to be a boy scout leader. Together with another leader we teach young scouts the importance of respecting and caring for nature. How to camp, hike, be a good citizen, the merrit badges go on and on. I love re-living my youth through these young guys. I've found that some of my most powerful spiritual experiences have come while I am in nature.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

In the Book of Mormon in the book of Alma (chapter 34, verse32), a prophet named Amulek testifies that "this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God." So Mormons believe that we need to do everything we can so that when we leave this life and stand before God we will be ready. We will have already tried and tested our faith in Him, we will have already repented of our sins, we will have already learned to live by His teachings. We will not be ashamed, not hang our heads in guilt and sorrow, but we will be able to praise Him and thank Him.   Show more Show less
