Hi I'm Russon

I grew up in southern Idaho and graduated from Boise State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management.

About Me

My wife and I have been married for almost twenty years and we are the parents of three boys. As a family, we love to travel and see different parts of the world. We have traveled to places such as California, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico, Texas, New York, Massachussetts, Vermont, West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Washington D.C., New Hampshire, and Turkey. I work in the construction industy and have had many great opportunities to work on projects that provide people with places to work and live.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In the small town that I grew up in there were not a lot of other religions and the majority of my acquaintances were also members of the Church. This didn't give me the opportunity to understand the teachings of other religions. It wasn't until I served a mission for my church in Brazil that I was able to understand and appreciate the beliefs of other people. As I had the opportunity to discuss the teachings of my church as well as listen to other people's beliefs, I came to truly understand what my religion meant to me. It was during these discussions that the testimony of my own beliefs began to solidify. I heard the many confusions that other people had about where we were before we came to this earth and what was to happen to us after death...it was then that I realized I had all of these answers. I am a Mormon because the teachings of this church bring me closer to my Savior Jesus Christ. I can see the whole Plan that our Heavenly Father has for us as we travel through mortality here on the earth. I can see that as I live teachings of the Gospel that I become a better man, husband, and father.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as the leader of the young men's organization in my ward. This position gives me the opportunity to work with young men that are between the ages of 16 and 18 on a weekly basis. We have a great time together and have many opportunities to serve others. We do service projects for the elderly in our neighborhood. As a leader I also try to help each young man become a better person in hopes that they can provide a positive contribution to society when they enter the work force.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

As I have read the New Testament it doesn't make sense to me that God wouldn't want us to know the way back to His presence just as he did in olden times. We are His children and face trials that are unique to our day. As our Father, He wants us to know how to return to His presence. With a living prophet today, we can know that God loves us and will give us direction through a prophet just as He did many years ago. Show more Show less
