Hi I'm Guy

I'm a husband, father, and a bit of a computer geek. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 5 children and am recently remarried to a beautiful woman. I work in the enterprise technical industry for a company in Washington. I enjoy my family, reading, writing, movies, good food, and family activities. I like to hike, camp, swim, and be out on the water. I also like learning about new things, visiting new places, and meeting new people.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the answers I've had to my prayers regarding the Book of Mormon, the truthfulness of the gospel and the church, and because of the good influence I see it having upon myself, my wife, my children, and the world. There is power in being good. I believe that if everyone did their best to live by the standards set by the Mormon church, all people in the world would be a much happier, more joyful and fulfilled people.

How I live my faith

I attend and participate in church each week. As I sit through the classes where we learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ, I feel the Holy Spirit's influence in my mind and in my heart. I feel that I am learning truth that I can apply in my life, at home, at work, or even when I am alone. I feel happier each time I leave church and want to do better to live the gospel the best I can. When we have my children over, we plan activities in which we can discuss, spend time enjoying each others' company, and grow our family relationship. I also try each week at work and out in the world to be a good example of the a person living the gospel in the fast-paced technological world. I try to show others love, kindness, and respect through my words and my actions. That's not an easy goal, but I believe Heavenly Father helps me each time I give my best.

What is the priesthood?

Guy
The priesthood is the authority to act in God's name. All male members of the Church who are prepared to receive the priesthood are given the authority to act in God's name by those who have the priesthood authority to do so. This priesthood authority was passed down by other righteous priesthood holders in the Church. A man with the priesthood might serve in some of the following ways: * Leading congregations of the Church * Performing the ordinances of the Church, such as baptism * Blessing those who are sick The first prophet of the Mormon Church was Joseph Smith, Jr. He received the priesthood from Peter, James, and John. These were the same men who first received their priesthood from Jesus Christ when they were alive on earth. As resurrected beings they gave the priesthood to Joseph Smith. I've received many blessings from priesthood holders that have healed my illnesses, given me comfort and counsel from God, and have influenced my life and family for good. The priesthood is a wonderful blessing from God to his children. Show more Show less
