Hi I'm James

I'm an entreprenuer, an investor, an adventurer and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the photo of me in this site, not because of the quality, but because of what it says about me. I love the outdoors - hiking, camping, backpacking, mountain biking, snowboarding. When I am outside, I can see God's handiwork up close and personal. On one hand, I feel very insignificant compared to how big this world is. On the other hand, I marvel at the wonders of creation - rock layers twisted by movements of the earth; plants, animals and insects in an amazing web of life. It always reminds me of the kindness, love and mercy of Heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ, the great creator.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel of Jesus Christ provides a framework for living that will lead to more happiness and joy in both this life and the next. As I hear friends or news stories tell about broken relationships, family troubles, wars and conflicts, I think how if they had just followed the teachings of Jesus they would have avoided so many problems. Of course, life will not be perfect just because you keep the commandments. Through adversity and trial, life has a way of helping us find who we truly are and what we are capable of. But if we follow the teachings of the gospel we avoid so much unncessessary pain and trouble. So, why am I a Mormon? Because following the teachings of the gospel gives me so much happines and joy. When I have troubles, I can always have hope and, when I come out the other side, be a better person rather than having the experience tear me down.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by helping out where I can. Sometimes this means serving in the Church. Sometimes this means going out of my way to help someone. Sometimes this means just listening when a friend or family member needs someone to talk to. I live my faith by taking care of my family. This includes encouraging my wife and children to stretch to their potential. It also means ensuring we have spirtual nourishment in our family. At the end of each day, we have a family prayer and read a little from the scriptures. This habit has made such a huge difference in the level of love and harmony in our home. Even though most days it is a chore to get through and we have all the same petty disagreements most people have, every once in a while we can feel the Spirit of the Holy Ghost touch us.
