Hi I'm Nathan

Making music is a stress relief for the daily grind. Balancing a good life can be tough. With God as my center, life is Great!

About Me

I love just sitting down like a fly on the wall and watching my children interact with eachother. It's so great to see their personalities develop. They are my number one hobby. Very fullfilling. I'm a father of nine and married to my best friend. On the side I, am a family physician, work on the never ending home improvements to our 1895 victorian, and try to stay in shape so I wont "let myself go." So life is full and busy and yes I get tired and I love sleep. For me, the key to happiness lies in feeling the Holy Ghost which testifies of Jesus Christ. I rely on personal revelation. There is great peace in living the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

There's a special feeling, knowledge, and presence from God's spirit that teaches me truth. It's clear, quiet and powerful, in my mind and soul. It's how I know when I pray, my Heavenly Father answers. He speaks directly to me. Guiding me, day by day. Prompting me and teaching me through His Holy Spirit. It's this same spirit that brings me peace and happiness and such fullness of life and purpose. It's how I now my Savior Jesus Christ is real, and that with his help, I can be made whole. I have studied and asked God about the doctrines I have been taught since birth. I know they are true. That's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Life is full and busy. With nine children and a busy medical practice, serving as Bishop at church, and the never ending home improvement projects, life has become quite the balancing act. One way that helps me keep things in line is remembering the priorities I decided to keep long before starting college and getting married. I am blessed to have a wife who holds these similar ideals. Number one is my relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, upon this, rests all else. Then is my reltionship to my best friend, my wife. When this is going well, I turn focus to my children. Next, is my church committments - as Bishop, I am the spiritual leader of the congregation, focusing on the youth and teaching them how to live their lives and hold fast to their high ideals and moral values. What a fulfilling opportunity. Continuing on with my priorities leads me to physical fitness - a wagon I jump on and off of so many times, but no worries, as long as I always get back on! After all these are in place, then I turn to my career as a family medicine physician. I know that I am successfull and happy in my career becuase the foundation of correct priorities is in place. What a blessing this has been in guiding life choices. I'm not perfect, no one is, but I'm trying, and that's what counts. I have seen many men, fathers, struggling to find balance and peace with work and family and all the demands of life. It is difficult. It can be easier. By stepping back, and taking a look, and staying grounded in God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ - we can enjoy His promise that his yoke is easy, and His burden is light. It's so worth it!

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Nathan
My faith in Jesus Christ increases as I put it to the test. When I exercise my faith, and decide to consitently make righteous choices that follow His example, over time, my faith increases. I can feel and know this inside, as the Holy Ghost speaks to my soul. Sometimes, the decision to test my faith is not so easy. Tempations to choose other than Christ would choose may be placed before me, or it may be simply my own inertia or fear of the unknown that hinders the growth of my faith. For me, the most revealing test of faith, is in how I treat others, especially when I am stressed, tired, upset, or when social pressures entice me to gossip and speak unkindly. I observe my actions, and strive to make my inate reactions those of the Savior; Gentleness, meekness, kindness. As I test my faith, over and over again, it grows stronger. My life is filled with peace and love. Show more Show less
