Hi I'm Andrea Ballard

I am a wife, a mother of six busy-bees, a singer of lullabies, promoter of dreams, an active participant in life and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Enthusiasm is one word that I have often heard to describe my personality throughout life! Whatever wonderful opportunities life offers I am often ready to give it a shot! I am a wife, a mother, a traveler and a performer; I am interested in politics and I love motivational speaking. I claim many areas as part of my "home" and so many wonderful people as part of our "family". I love to travel, meet new people, learn new languages and enjoy new cultures - as a mother of six I hope to instill the same love of people and places in my children. I am grateful to know the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ so that I may share that knowledge with my children. I grew up in a New England town just north of Boston, Massachusetts - attended school in the mid-west - at BYU, and there met a blue-eyed Texan whose smile rivaled the reputation of the Lone Star State! I was swept off my feet and thus our family has settled on a little bit of acreage out in the country in Texas - our little Ballard Bunch also spent two years living in the beautiful country of Mexico and have many dear friends there. I am grateful over the years to have begun understanding the importance of being a parent - It has taken some time but I have come to realize the privilege of being a wife and a mother. Our wonderful family is the full focus of my time and attention and I am grateful for the smiles and laughter of our children (although I have to say that professional referees have nothing on most mothers)!

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel of Jesus Christ has shaped my life and has touched the lives of all around me. I have seen the teachings of the gospel change lives as people come to know the simplicity of the truth that Jesus Christ is their Savior. The solid principles of the gospel allow me a steady foundation in a world where the truth is in turmoil. The gospel is full of unchanging, correct principles that guide my life and I know it is true!

How I live my faith

I love to actively participate in life - whether serving within our home (i.e. diapers, dusting, laundry and dinners), sharing the gospel at church, serving in the schools, serving as a political liaison or working to help others realize their goals in life. I love being involved and learning. I love sharing my enjoyment with others and seeing what great things come from collaboration and service! Life is amazing and I hope to continue to realize that each day! Sharing the tremendous truths found within scripture is one of my favorite things to do! One manner in which I have the opportunity to serve in our church is through working with music in the Primary program - a program for children ages two through twelve. I love being blessed to share the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ through music. The basics of faith, repentance, charity, baptism, the reality of the Holy Ghost and the truth of the divinity of Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven is all taught beautifully through lessons and music in the church. I love the chance to study and learn more about the life of Christ in the New Testament or the tremendous prophecies of which many were fulfilled in the Old Testament - I love sharing the great news that there exists more accounts of Christ and his ministry through the Book of Mormon!

What is the priesthood?

Andrea Ballard
The Priesthood is what sets our religion apart from all others; many religions teach faith, repentance and baptism and have wonderful teachings that bring people closer to a knowledge of their Savior, Jesus Christ. Each and every truth that is taught - no matter which church it is found in can serve to bring us to a greater knowledge of our Father in Heaven and our Savior. So, one difference that sets the LDS church apart from the rest of the world is that we believe that the same priesthood that Christ held has been restored to the Earth today, in our time. The same power Christ and his apostles held that allowed for them to forgive sins, heal the sick, change water to wine and discern the thoughts of others is here on the Earth today. Each male LDS member who is worthy to hold the priesthood has the authority to act in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ - after he receives this authority by a blessing that is pronounced by one holding this authority through the laying on of hands. Each member of the church who holds the priesthood has a line of authority, a document that provides the priesthood holder a map of whom they received their priesthood authority through. The line of authority traces the priesthood back to the Savior, Jesus Christ. One of the tremendous truths of this gospel is that the priesthood of God has been restored on the face of the Earth today because of the tremendous love that our Father in Heaven has for us - me and you!
