Hi I'm Dan

I'm an Air Force JAG from Iowa, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Iowa. I served an LDS mission to Mexico. While I was in Utah studying philosphy, I met my wife, Alicia. She's from France. We moved back to Iowa for grad school (more philosophy) and law school. I'm a JAG, and I've been with the Air Force since 2004. So far I've been assigned to California, Germany, Southwest Asia, and Virginia. We're awaiting an adoption from China, hopefully in 2011.

Why I am a Mormon

My mom's parents joined the church before she was born, she and my dad dated in high school, and he joined the church in college. So I was born in the church and baptized at age eight. But it wasn't until I was a teenager that I gained my own testimony of the restored gospel. I came to this knowledge by the Spirit, through experiences with early morning seminary, youth conferences, reading the Book of Mormon, prayer, etc. It didn't come all at once, but it definitely came -- and it has grown with time and experience.

How I live my faith

Since my mission, I've served in a number of ways at church: nursery leader, Sunday school teacher, 11-year-old Boy Scout leader, etc. Besides attending church on Sundays, my wife and I try to attend the temple when we can and read the scriptures daily. I'm very grateful for General Conference every October and April, when we can learn from modern apostles; I study their speeches carefully and listen to them several times in between each conference on my iPod.
