Hi I'm Daryl

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, Welcome to my profile. I live in Southern California and am a lawyer by profession (estate planning attorney). I am happily married to Vallorie and have 5 children and 12 grandchildren (but this number is growing). Life is very busy for me as a husband, father, and member of the LDS Church. Certainly, my greatest joy in life is my family and having the assurance that families are meant to be eternal. With that assurance, life's challenges become easier to face and overcome, and joy is found in the little daily happenings of my life that revolve around my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. However, that does not explain why I am a Mormon. I was taught the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ while I was very young and had a believing heart. But my teenage years and some family difficulties during those years took their toll and prompted me to evaluate where I was going and what I believed. I asked myself whether my actions were cosistent with my beliefs. As I sought to become closer to Heavenly Father through prayer, a study of the scriptures, and a persistent effort to be a better person, at the age of 18 I found a renewed testimony in God, Jesus Christ, living prophets of God, and the scriptures (including the powerful testimony and witness of Jesus Christ found in the Bible and the Book of Mormon). Today I am a Mormon because I want to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ, and I have found that the doctrines and teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints lead me in that direction. Sometimes I do not live up to those expectations as fully as I want to, but I find strength in the Savior to overcome weaknesses and challenges, and I find peace knowing that He waits to receive me with open arms and forgiveness as I strive to do better each day.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith each day as a husband, father, grandfather, Church member, professional (attorney), and a member of my community. I seek to have integrity in my life -- are my choices consistent with my beliefs even when no one is watching me? I live my faith by honoring my marriage covenants and loving my children and grandchildren. I strive to be patient in my family relationships and realize that they are an integral part of the greatest gift I have received from my Heavenly Father. In my service in my church, I have worked in many capacities (while at the same time running a law practice). From teaching young people to leading a large congregation, I have found joy in helping make others' lives better. I have found joy in trying to lighten the burdens others carry and to understand more fully that only Heavenly Father and our Savior can judge the actions and lives of others. My role is not to judge, but to love and to help others find strength and peace in our Savior Jesus Christ notwithstanding their individual challenges.
