Hi I'm Stacy

I am a retired Spanish Teacher and am now writing a book in the fantasy genre for teenagers. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a retired Spanish teacher. The young people I taught were wonderful and they taught me a lot every day. I am now writing a book for teenagers in the fantasy genre. I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Art's Degree. I majored in Spanish Teaching and minored in English. I also lived in Guatemala for a year and a half as a missionary for the LDS church. My experiences there teaching the people about Jesus Christ were life changing. I am 49 years young and have been happily married to my husband for 26 years. We have 3 children- a 24 year old daughter, a 22 year old son, and a 19 year old son. It was challenging being a parent of teenagers but it was also very fun and there was never a dull moment at our house! Currently our daughter and youngest son are serving full time missions: one in California and the other in Mississippi. Our oldest son served a mission to New Hampshire and is now married and living in Maine. I love to read, sing, exercise, bake, teach, hike, eat chocolate, and I am currently writing a book for teenagers. I hope to finish it by May of 2015 just before our son returns from his mission. My life is not perfect but it is definitely good and I love it!

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I believe it is the same organization that Jesus established when He was on the earth. It gives me great peace to know that through His great sacrifice of giving His life for all of us, we can repent of our wrong doings and return to live with Him and our Father in Heaven after this life. Living the teachings of Jesus Christ brings me joy and gives me hope. I know that God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ live and that they love each of us individually and know us by name. I know that by the power of prayer we can communicate with our Father and that He will answer our prayers- not always how we want but in ways that are best for us. I know that the Bible is the word of God and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God also. They were both written by prophets inspired of God so that we could know His will for us and return to Him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by studying about how Jesus lived and learning what He taught and trying to follow His example. It is definitely not easy, but it is worth it! I try to see all people as children of God and treat them accordingly. I attend church each Sunday and love Relief Society which is the world's largest organization for women. Women ages 18 and up are a part of it. I love teaching and learning along with the other women. We help each other with our problems at home, with our kids and with our work. It is a beautiful thing to be a part of a group of women who care so much and do so much good in this world for others. The Relief Society's motto is "Charity never faileth." For me, giving charity is not just giving to the poor but helping all people spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally. Serving others is what Jesus did and is what I am trying to do. I currently am reading the Bible and I am in Ecclesiastes. I am also reading the Book of Mormon. I try to read a little each day because there is true power in the word of God. My days go much better when I have read the scriptures.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

The missionaries will share a message about Jesus Christ and His great sacrifice for all people. They teach about our Heavenly Father's Plan of Happiness which allows all people to return to him. Show more Show less
