Hi I'm Lorraine

I am a wife,mother, & elementary school teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother. I am an elementary school teacher as well as a college professor. I love quilting, reading historical fiction, and spending time with my family. I come from a part member family but am the only active member out of my 4 other siblings. I lost both of my parents at a young age and have been able to work hard at overcoming the challenges this presented in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I honestly don't know where I would be if not for my faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As I was growing up, I was faced with many hardships. I lost my mom at 8 years of age and my dad became an alcoholic. He passed away several years later. While I felt alone a lot of the time, I always was in the habit of praying. I look back and realize that while I felt alone, I really wasn't. The Lord was by my side. I am a Mormon simply because I know that the Lord loves me and has a beautiful plan for me. It hasn't always been easy but my life is so full because of my faith in Him.

How I live my faith

I try to lead my life in line with the gospel teachings. I treat people the way I want to be treated. I believe that it is vital to serve others. You really can lose yourself in the service of others. I try to be a respect others beliefs while at the same time not compromising mine. I try hard to be honest in my daily dealings with others. I have been told by others that people know where I stand because of how I live my life. I am not a great scriptorian, but I know what I believe, and try to show it through my deeds with others. I know that an important part of living my faith, is being involved in the community. I have served on several PTA's and Community Scouting programs. I encourage my children to do the same. I feel blessed with many talents and abilities and know that the best way I can show my appreciation to the Lord is by using these gifts and talents to serve others.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Lorraine
No, I think that it appears that way at times because Mormons are like any one else. It is easier to help people that you have something in common with. I have been helped by non-Mormons and I believe in helping others not because they are Mormon, but rather because helping others is the right thing to do. Show more Show less
