Hi I'm Elliott

I'm a graduate student, and I love to travel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am grateful to have a wonderful family and great friends. I am a graduate student, and I love to study art, languages, and different cultures and to cook and eat good food!

Why I am a Mormon

I am so thankful to my parents for raising me in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It’s not just my heritage that makes me a Mormon, though. I have studied and prayed about the gospel myself, and I have a personal conviction that it is true. I am grateful everyday for the peace, happiness, and hope that I feel because of my faith. In school I devote a lot of time to researching other religions, and I have many friends who belong to a variety of faiths. I have deep admiration for all that is good and uplifting in the religions of the world, but I am a Mormon because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints contains the full truth of Jesus Christ’s gospel, the way he taught it during his life on earth. The Savior himself restored His Church to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by praying each day, reading the scriptures, and trying to always remember the Savior’s commandments. I love to study the Book of Mormon because it brings me special comfort and peace, confirming to me once again that the gospel is true and that the Lord loves me. The verses I read give me guidance and strength for the day, and many times I have prayed to God for particular blessings and help. I know that he always hears my prayers.

Are Mormons Christians?

Elliott
Christians are followers of Jesus Christ, and we join Roman Catholics, Protestants, Eastern Orthodox, and other Christian denominations in proclaiming that He is the Son of God. We love Him, we trust Him, we "look to [Him] in every thought." The Book of Mormon teaches along with the Bible that "there shall be no other name given nor any other way nor means whereby salvation can come unto the children of men, only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent." So the answer to the question, "Are Mormons Christian?" is a resounding "Yes!" The word "Mormon" is only a nickname for us. Our true name is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." We treasure the prophecies of His coming in the Old Testament, we love the account of His ministry in the New Testament, the Book of Mormon testifies of Him on nearly every page, and modern-day revelation announces that He still lives, that He still loves His children, and that this is His Church, established once again on the earth.
