Hi I'm Helen

I enjoy life and especially I enjoy being a mother and grandmother. I love being a Mormon.

About Me

I have been a stay-at-home mom for most of my married life. My childhood was what you might call 'normal' with my share of trials that comes with the lack of understanding of what this life experience is all about. The trials in later years have taught me that they were truly an important part of my learning process. I have learned much. I enjoy walking in the forest and along the beach when we can visit the ocean. I enjoy doing family history. Especially with the technology that is available today. History I enjoy because of the many life experiences I come across in my studies. To see the effects of choices that others have made that have lived before me has helped me with my life's choices at times. However......my greatest love is my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Because my parents became converts of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before I was born I was raised in a gospel centered home. This is something I took for granted. Just before I was called to serve a mission in Uruguay I found that I needed to know for myself if what I had been taught by my parents was true. This became a driving need for me. Early in the year of 1963 I began reading a Book of Mormon that had been given me when I turned 8 years old by one of my teachers in our youth organization. As I started to read an increasing desire began to grow within and I could not put the book down. When I was called to fulfill a chore I couldn't wait to return to my reading. By the time I came to the end of the Book I knew it was true. I knelt down and asked Father in Heaven to please confirm the feeling I was experiencing at His truth. The feeling of conviction filled my whole being at that time. As I served on my mission a few months later I found deep gratitude for the personal conversion I had received because now I could share the truth of the gospel with these wonderful people knowing that I completely knew the truth. My testimony has grown over the years with the service I have been involved in. Jesus Christ is my Savior who gave His life for me. This knowledge is priceless to me and brings me great comfort in times of need.

How I live my faith

Right now my husband and I are serving on a Spanish speaking mission in our local town. We love the people we associate with. We have become close friends with many of them. We have truly found that you come to love those you serve. In my younger years I served a Spanish speaking mission in Uruguay, South America. It became a wonderful growing experience for me. I loved the people there also. Through the years I have been involved with the youth and women organizations of the church. I have taught in these groups and organized activities. I have learned wonderful things over the years that has been very helpful to me as a wife, mother, and grandmother such as homemaking and relationship skills and how to just have fun with these opportunities of growth.
