Hi I'm Havard

I grew up in Oslo, Norway. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up in Norway, I was the only Mormon at elementary, middle, and high schools. Most of my friends were not Mormon, but they respected me for my beliefs. My parents joined the Mormon church before I was born. As a young married couple, they invited two missionaries into their little Oslo apartment. They felt something good every time the missionaries came. After looking into the Mormon beliefs and studying The Book of Mormon, they joined the Mormon church. I enjoy skiing, soccer, sailing, and golf. I am married and I have 5 children (1 girl and 4 boys). I am currently the Executive Director of Marketing and Product Management for a Telecommunication company. I have a Master in Business Administration degree. I love hanging out with my 5 kids. I enjoy watching them grow and succeed. I spend much of my time attending their soccer, basketball, baseball, waterpolo, flag football, and golf games. I am proud to be a Dad!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for the following reasons: 1. The Book of Mormon is scripture - I have studied and read The Book of Mormon several time. I know that this book of scripture is the word of God. It goes hand-in-hand with the Bible. I feel closer to God when I study the Book of Mormon. 2. God answers prayers - I have knelt down in prayer to God and He as answered my prayers. I am a Mormon because of the answers I have received through prayer. I know that God answers every prayer. 3. Gospel of Jesus Christ - I am a Mormon because the Mormon church teaches me about Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ gave us His gospel and I learn about this gospel when I go to church each week. 4. True Ordinances - I am able to participate in critical ordinances in the Mormon church. Baptism, sacrament, Gift of The Holy Ghost, sealing of families etc. 5. Teaches good family values - The Mormon church is a family church. Families are critical to the church. The Mormon church teaches me how to be a better father and husband. I know that our family can be together forever if we follow these family values. The church has taught me how to raise my little children and how to handle my teenagers. I believe we are a close-knit family because of the family values we learn in the Mormon church. 6. The Mormon church challenges me to be a better person - I love that the teachings of the Mormon church make me want to do better each day. As I study the Bible and the Book of Mormon each day, I feel myself becoming a better person. As I go to church each Sunday, I feel better inside. The church always encourages me to work harder, to be better, to try harder, and to never give up.

How I live my faith

I love the teenagers of the Mormon church. I love trying to help them become more successful. I am currently an early morning seminary teacher for 25 high school juniors. Seminary is scripture study class for high school students. High school students attend these classes for 4 years. The students go through a 4-year curriculum. One year they study the Old Testament of the Bible, next year, the New Testament of the Bible, the third year, the Book of Mormon and the forth year, modern day revelation and Church History. The teenagers get up early each morning to go to my class at 6:20 AM. It is amazing to see teenagers sacrifice their sleep each morning to come to my class. I love teaching them and my goal and hope is to give them a spiritual start to each day. We all need God's help each day so we can stay away from the evil influences of the devil. I believe these teenagers walk away with a spiritual shield of protection as they start each morning with scripture study. I am so proud to be their teacher! I am so impressed that these teenagers are willing to sacrifice their sleep each morning to attend my class. My class is from 6:20 AM to 7:10 AM each school day for 4 years. I know Jesus Christ is proud of my students and He blesses them because of their dedication to spiritual learning.
