Hi I'm Roy

My nickname is Mike and, I'm a mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and lived there until our family moved to California in 1965. I was married in 1974 in the Salt Lake Temple. I have had a variety of hobbies most of them related in some manner or another to a technology field. As a young man I was always building radios, or some other electrical device from a kit. In addition, I have always been interested in Amateur Radio and currently hold the General license. It's always interesting to meet new people on the radio and share experiences.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon isn't just a Sunday one day a week event. It's a way of life. Why am I a Mormon? Because I have proved to myself that the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by this Church is true. I joined the Church at the age of 13 and was active for many years as a youth. But, I don't believe that I really understood what the gospel was really about until I grew much older. Over the years I've had many opportunities to provide service in a variety of positions in the Church. Each of these has given me the chance to understand the gospel from the perspective of serving others. Many of the blessings that the gospel offers us are based upon our being of service to others and not expecting any rewards. My talents have been multiplied as I've been in the service of others and I have truly felt that my family and I have been blessed beyond measure through our activity in the Church. I have personally witnessed the changes in a person's life as they have applied the principles of the gospel in their life and followed its teachings. I've experienced these same changes in my own life over the decades that I've been a member and have applied the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ in my own life. I have been richly blessed by a wonderful companion and two wonderful children who are both active in the Church. Indeed I firmly believe that these blessings would not have happened if I had not been active in the Church and living its teachings.

How I live my faith

The gospel of Jesus Christ is a gospel of sacrifice. Sacrifice of our time and talents to those around us. I live my faith by being of service to others. This often requires sacrifice as service opportunities do not always appear at a convenient time.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Many years ago I had the opportunity to meet President Spencer W. Kimball in the Church office building. I had gone there with my wife to meet her uncle who worked for the Church. We were visiting SLC and took this chance to say hello. While we were talking to my wife's uncle, President Kimball and one or two others accompanying him came through a door and stopped to greet us. It was an experience I won't soon forget. I cannot put it into words but the spirit testified to me that I was indeed speaking with and shaking hands with a prophet. Although I have not had the chance to meet President Monson in person, I testify that he's the Lord's prophet at this time. Show more Show less
