Hi I'm Sharon

I grew up in Utah. I love the Book of Mormon. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mom and a sister and a granddaughter and a daughter. I love my family and I enjoy family history.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I grew up in a family where we knew about the Book of Mormon. I was baptized at age eight by my father. I still remember the wonderful feeling I had when I was walking down the hallway at the church with my dad, holding his hand, and walking to the baptismal font to be baptized. I was confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and received the gift of the Holy Ghost, the next day.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by reading or listening to the scriptures, and following the counsel given in the Book of Mormon. I am impressed with the fact that many prophets of the Book of Mormon speak of God's mercy and the love that He has for His children. Everyone is special to the Lord. I try to build my life upon the scaffolding that the church provides. We try to have Family Home evening on Monday evenings. We do something with our family spending time and teaching the gospel. We read from magazines or articles put out by the church. We talk and try to get to know one another better in our family.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Mormons perform baptisms for the dead because God commands all men to be baptized. This covenant allows us to be washed clean after we make any mistakes. Some people never heard about baptism or Jesus Christ, while they were alive. But noone can enter into heaven if they are not cleaned from their sins. So, the people who are still on the earth, do the baptisms for those who can't do it for themselves. If a person in the spirit world decides to covenant with God and accept the proxy baptism which was done for them, then they, too, can enter, clean, into heaven with those who have made and kept sacred covenants. In whom should we have faith?

We should have faith in Jesus Christ because He loves us. Show more Show less
