Hi I'm Van

I eat. I sleep. I make people laugh. I don't give up. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Well! At the moment, I am a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; In the Georgia Atlanta mission. I've been on the field for a little over a year and so far it's been quite the spiritual experience. Other than that I like to play video/computer games... especially online multiplayer games, and games with memorable characters and a good story. I also like to watch Anime and read manga... from Gundam to your typical shonen jump mangas like Bleach. I really like the Japanese language, and I hope one day I will get to learn and speak the language. As well as spend some time in Japan. (No, I am not Japanese but Chinese with a little Vietnamese blood in me). I also like to watch sports with my pops sometimes... especially basketball and baseball ("LET'S GO YANKEES") Writing all of this is getting me really "trunky"... I should stop while I have the chance. My friends and family are up there in my priority list... there is nothing more important than those two things other than... you know who. But they are my greatest motivations... the reason why I keeping moving forward! When I go out jogging and I'm huffing and puffing trying to endure and "kick" my way out... I think of my family and friends. From doing so, I get this confidence boost and renewed energy/willpower to keep on going. So I've mentioned that I like to make people laugh. I really do. And I can be REALLY random sometimes so that I can have people bust out laughing. On the other hand, I know when it is time to be serious. And believe me... I can get pretty serious. Well... that's all I think I should write about. If I have any more to write in this category... I WILL DO SO. HA

Why I am a Mormon

To be frank... I was "born into the covenant". I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Because I was born of "goodly parents", I was raised up learning the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. I may not of understood the importance of "Baptism" when I was 8 years of age. But I understand now that that ordinance is absolutely necessary to gain a remission of our sins and have that opportunity to return back to our Heavenly Father. More importantly, the Gospel of Jesus Christ has given me direction, peace and joy that you CANNOT find any where else. The Gospel has made me who I am today.

How I live my faith

Well, like I said before... I am a full-time missionary serving in the Georgia Atlanta mission. I have devoted all my time and attention in the service of the Lord in "inviting others come unto Christ by helping them receive the Restored Gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement; Repentance, Baptism, Receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost and Enduring to the End." More importantly... I want others to know of the true message that we share... because it brings so much direction, peace and happiness in my life. It's helped me develop virtuous character and become who I am today. I want to share this with everybody! And even my friends and family. A wise Tongan once told me that it's "never about me... but it's all about God". God's work and glory is our progression and ultimately our salvation and exaltation. He wants the best for us... So as we put God first and trust in him... we recognize that it's about Him, us and everybody else. Hope that made sense haha.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

A loving functional family is where we experience trust, responsibility, security, care and love for one another. Our initial stages of learning and growing starts within the family. There are many reasons why families are so important. I believe that out of all those reasons, love is the greatest of all. There is a bond between families that are inseparable and can probably be ultimately be defined as "divine". I know for myself that families can be together happily forever through the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
