Hi I'm Heather

I'm an optimist, an avid reader, a lover of architecture/design, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a fantastic family-all of whom I love and admire. I grew up in Arizona and Texas-learning the proper uses of "y'all" and "all y'all" and how to stay out of the cactus. I love to meet new people and discover who they are and what has influenced them. I graduated from college in May 2010 with a BSD Arch (Bachelor of Science in Design in Architecture)-sucess! I loved it! I spent 18 months serving the people of the Georgia Atlanta area as a missionary-telling people about Heavenly Father's love for them. I love to laugh, smile, and tell cheesy jokes. Think tall nerdy girl who likes to look at buildings, read, laugh, play games, smile, and walk around museums-that's me!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church-both my parents are members as are my siblings. I remember reaching a point where I needed to know if it was true-did I really believe it or was it just something I was brought up with. I decided to read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover and to take the invitation found at the end in Moroni 10:3-5, to read it and to sincerely ask God if faith if the Book of Mormon was true. I received an answer that it was. It wasn't a huge loud answer with trumpets and angels but a quite peaceful assurance that the Book of Mormon was true. That knowledge gave me confidence as I continued to ask what was true. I got my answer and here I am today! I've seen so many blessings in my life because of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know it is true so I chose to sacrifice my time, talents, and energy to tell people of it. As I follow the teachings of Jesus Christ I've found great blessings in my life: peace, joy, happiness, love, answers to questions, direction, knowledge of who I am and what my purpose is... the list could go on and on. Isn't that what many people are looking looking for in life? Well-I'm a Mormon and the Gospel of Jesus Christ is where I find these things.

How I live my faith

One day at a time. Recently, I lived my faith by serving as a missionary in the Georgia Atlanta area for 18 months. Waking up, studying the scriptures, putting my name tag on, grabbing my backpack, and going out telling people the good news of Jesus Christ! If you had something amazingly fantastic that blessed your life wouldn't you want to tell everyone you could? Yes! Well, that's what I did. We are all the children of God-I wanted all of my brothers and sisters to know! Today, I live my faith in the little things, there isn't one great act of faith I can recall. I live it by daily obedience to the things that God has asked us to do. I feel my faith grow as I keep the commandments, study the scriptures, pray, serve and love others, listen to and live the counsel of a living prophet, and try to act the promptings of the Holy Ghost. I strive to do all that I can knowing that Jesus Christ will make up the rest as long as I give my all. Ultimately, my faith is in my works-in the things I choose to do.
