Hi I'm James!

I'm fun and I'm a Mormon! I love it.

About Me

I am from Houston, Texas! However, I am currently serving as a missionary in Tacoma Washington for two years. I always try to follow the example of Jesus Christ and love to help others do the same. I love playing the Uke, basketball, football, ultimate frisbee, reading, and hiking.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been born and raised Mormon, always believing in Jesus Christ and God the Father. However, there always comes a point in ones life when one has to choose a path in life. When in my teens, I carefully chose the path to follow Jesus Christ because I know He is the Light, the Life, and the Truth! Therein lies true happiness. Through study and prayer, I have personally come to know that this is the full and complete Gospel of Jesus Christ restored on the earth today. Everything about it just makes sense! I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because it brings me happiness.

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon is a lifestyle. It means being a disciple of Jesus Christ at all times and in a places. The Lord said, "Come Follow Me". That simple phrase is the pattern of my life. I try to live a simple life, a loving life, and be the best I can be to help anybody and everybody. Currently, I love being a missionary because I get that opportunity every single day to serve others and fill their lives with the Love of God! Even though unfortunate events occur in life, I can always hold my head up high and know the Christ and my Heavenly Father will always love me!

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Jesus Christ taught "Except a man be born of the water and of the spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God." (John 3:5) That instruction is straight forward and simple. Not only did the Lord tell us to do this, but he led by example by entering the waters of baptism with John the Baptist in the river Jordan. Jesus knew he had to "fulfill all righteousness". Baptism is the way we truly access the power found in the Atonement. To be fully healed through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we must take upon us His name through baptism. I have personally felt the Atonement in my life and I know it is because I made the decision to take Christ's name upon me. We all need to be baptized like the Lord: By complete immersion in the water and by someone holding the Priesthood authority like John the Baptist. Who are the Mormons?

The word "Mormon" is actually just a nickname given to members of the church due to our belief in the Book of Mormon. This nickname came about in the mid 1800's. There is no such thing as the "Mormon Church", Mormons are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Show more Show less
