Why I am a Mormon

I grew up with amazing parents who taught me to keep the comandments and love God,but we never went to a church.One day a family moved in down the street and i became friends with them,soon they invited me to Boy Scouts somthing about them was diffent being around them and being in there house was one of peace and comfort i havent felt before.i went to church with them and its been the best decission ive ever made,i meet with the missionaries and meet with some members of the ward who are some of the most amazing people in the world i knew this was the true church on the earth i was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 2001. I am very grateful to be a member and have a strong tesimony of are Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ and i know that Joesph Smith is a phophet of God and that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored though Joesph Smith and that Thomas S Monson is the phophet on the earth today,this brings me great joy i am sharing what has made my life full of happiness as a missionary for the church in the Washington Tacoma Mission

How I live my faith

i do my best every day to be an example of Christ and live his teaching  and love to share it with others

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

because of the Book of Mormon which Mormon was a phophet who compiled the writing of the phophets into the Book of Mormon and the name stuck we dont mind being referred to as mormon but not the mormon church becuase this is the church of Jesus Christ and that means alot to us  Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

President Gordon B. Hinckley, prior president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints made the following statement in 2005 about Joseph Smith: “We do not worship [Joseph Smith] the Prophet. We worship God our Eternal Father and the risen Lord Jesus Christ. But we acknowledge the Prophet; we proclaim him; we respect him; we reverence him as an instrument in the hands of the Almighty in restoring to the earth the ancient truths of the divine gospel, together with the priesthood through which the authority of God is exercised in the affairs of His Church and for the blessing of His people” (Gordon B. Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

for sunday we wear sunday best but if its your first time you wont get kicked out if u dress casual but it shows respect when u dress nice and for holidays we dont have any restrictions Members of the Church celebrate Christmas and Easter, regarding these two events as the most spiritually significant days in history because of the birth, suffering, death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Church members also celebrate the regional and national holidays of the countries where they live. Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

no but we are urged to support the goverment and be active in are communitues to vote,to serve and help are fellow beings Show more Show less

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

we pay for are missions with are own money and its givin back to us with the housing etc taking out we get some money at the start of the month for food and supplies while some of the areas cost more then others its a flat rate to come out and spread around where it is needed around the world Show more Show less

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

cause we know things are going to happen and want to be prepared for times of need and to be able to help others when this happens things such as natural disasters,famines etc we are the first on scene to help out and serve this is what the scriptures and modern prophets have told us to do Show more Show less
