Hi I'm Kathy Jo

I'm a wife, a mom, a grandma, a friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 32 years and have four grown children, the youngest of which is serving a full-time mission for the Church. With my oldest three children being married, I am also a grandma to four of the cutest children that have ever been born! I love going on dates with my husband and spending time with my family whenever I can...and yes, I also eat chocolate for breakfast!

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was born and raised in the Church, there still comes a time that you have to decide on your own if the Gospel is true...and with all my heart I say "YES!" There was not one big "AH, HAH moment", just a series of little moments over my life that add up to a knowledge that Jesus Christ lives and this is His Church.

How I live my faith

I am officially an "empty-nester" and a grandma; so it came as quite a surprise when I recently received a call to serve as the Young Women's President in our congregation's youth program....but I love the young woman I serve and hope they will keep me young?! I have a strong testimony of serving in whatever capacity the Lord wants you. Through serving others you put the problems of your life in perspective and receive blessings of strength to move forward. Isn't this why we are here, to help each other return back to our Heavenly Father? Oh, I am certainly not perfect at this and have much to learn and improve on, but I am trying to be a little bit better each day...this is all the Savior asks of us. Obedience to His teachings is not always the easiest thing to do or the most convenient, but it is the only way to find lasting joy! If we make a place for Christ in our lives, there will be a sweet peace come to us that only He can bring.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Kathy Jo
The selection of prophet is not handed down from father to son or a position that is campaigned for. Each Prophet is chosen directly by God, our Heavenly Father. When there is so much debate and confusion in the world, how comforting it is that we can know what God would say to us by listening to His mouthpiece on Earth, the Prophet. We also know from the scriptures that God will never allow the Prophet to lead us astray. Doesn't it make sense that if there were Prophets in days gone by, like Abraham, Moses, and Jacob, that God would not leave us alone without guidance in today's world? Show more Show less
