Hi I'm Karen

I'm a Mormon. My baptism took place in Portland Maine, 1959. Dad's Navy career gave me an opportunity to live in many places.

About Me

Retired from management in The American Red Cross Blood Service Southern Region 2009. Being committed as a blood donor is important to me in giving back to those in need. My interest are genealogy, scripture study, being with family of four sons, their wives, and 15 grandchildren is most important to me. Scouting has been a passion of mine for many years being blessed with four sons obtaining the Eagle rank in BoyScouts of America. The most fun in adult scouting was personnally going through the weeklong Woodbadge training with my husband earning the woodbadge beads for recognition. Also along the way received the Silver Beaver Award. I Love Boy Scouts and how they help boys grow in developing talents . Now I serve as a Bear Den leader in Cub Scouts. We have been foster parents to six youth and still communicate regularly with three which are now grown up with their own families. Having all these children in our family has taught us many gospel principals.

Why I am a Mormon

Gospel doctrines make sense to me ever since being a youth. Knowing we have a Father in Heaven has blessed me in answering my prayers. Being a convert to the L.D.S. Church has helped me raise my children in the gospel. Though the gospel the Lord has given me the direction and guidance needed to be a mother, daughter, wife and now a grandmother.

How I live my faith

Each day I try to take time to read scriptures and say personal prayers. Accepting positions in Church has given me confidence to care and visit others. I like visiting members each month in their homes giving an uplifted message from our church magazines. It is a way to make friends also. I try to think what would Jesus want me to do today and making a difference in anothers life.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

It is a witness that Jesus Christ lived and how he helped other people. He set the example on how we can have Joy and Happiness in this life by following His cammandments and teachings. He showed us there is a purpose in life and a plan to return to our Father in Heaven to dwell in peace for all eternity. The Bible gives hope when days are hard to get through. We can be forgiven and start anew is the theme in the Bible. The Book of Mormon proves the Bible to be true, that Jesus is truely our Savior. Show more Show less
