Hi I'm Ben

I live in the heartland of America. I serve students with special needs. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am single and find lots of things to do that make my life meaningful and fulfilling. I am a special education teacher and just finished my masters degree in mental health counseling. I participate in service activities for my church, school, and community. I love the outdoors whether its skiing, whitewater rafting, canoeing, shooting, hiking, biking, fishing, or just sitting around a campfire gazing at the stars. Dancing when I am not the DJ also helps me keep it real!

Why I am a Mormon

I developed a relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ very early in my childhood. The Holy Ghost would confirm to me of their existence and divinity when I would sing songs about them in Sunday School. Since then I have continued to follow the Lord's example by being baptized by immersion and receiving the Holy Ghost at 8 years of age. The Holy Ghost has continued to confirm to me that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true. Heavenly Father and Jesus did visit the boy prophet Joseph Smith in 1820 when he was just 14 years of age. Joseph Smith became a prophet in these latter days to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fullness just as the church of Jesus Christ in ancient times but then fell into apostasy after the death of Jesus Christ and his apostles. President Thomas S. Monson- a living prophet- who under the direction of Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father leads and guides the church today! I know that If I am faithful living the gospel of Jesus Christ as I promised to do at the day of my baptism into his church then I will be able to return to live with him again one day : )

How I live my faith

Jesus Christ is my perfect example of faith. He showed his faith by serving others. I try to show my faith in Jesus Christ by serving others as well. I do that by teaching and inspiring students academically and socially who then learn to serve others in our community through various academic and social tasks including leadership activities and service projects. At church I work with youth to build relationships of trust with them through scouting experiences and religious activities. This helps to promote and assist them in honoring their religious duties and obligations through service and obedience to the Lord's gospel which helps me do likewise. I help facilitate a single adult program in our church for adults that are 30 and over in age. Activities have been weekly/monthly meetings of spiritual/recreational fellowship to weekend conferences consisting of spiritual topics including, scripture study, prayer, family history/genealogy, leadership/teamwork/setting goals, self defense, and disability awareness. Activities were horseback riding, canoeing, and going on a low/high ropes challenge course anywhere from 3 ft to 40 ft off the ground! I love to share my enthusiasm for life with anyone regardless of age or gender! This attitude comes from my faith to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. I also know that I am far from perfect and make many mistakes. I am thankful to know and feel the Savior's love for me through His atonement. When I repent of my mistakes I become more like Him and have the strength to move forward in my life to continue to have joy, peace, and success in whatever I pursue in order to serve others.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

When our body is not under the influence of harmful chemicals such as coffee, tea, alcohol and other harmful drugs the Holy Ghost is able to more freely communicate to our mind God's will. It is important for me to know God's will through the Holy Ghost. Therefore I do not take harmful chemicals into my body because it would disrupt me from receiving and understanding revelation from God. I strive to exercise several times a week as well as eat healthy foods including grains, fruits, and meat. I also make it a point to get 7-8 hours of rest a night. This healthy lifestyle sustains me physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I do not drink alcohol, coffee, tea, alcohol, or take harmful drugs into my body which could risk my spiritual, emotional, and physical health thus not allowing me to be the best I can be and the happiest I could be.
