Hi I'm Melanie

I'm southern. I'm a special education teacher. Helping people with special needs is my passion. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Georgia my entire life, with the exception of one year I spent teaching in Louisiana. I currently teach special education at a high school. People with special needs have always been my passion and I have volunteered with several clubs in Georgia that are involved in helping people with special needs, with Special Olympics being my favorite. This takes up most of my time, but I wouldn't change it for anything.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church in 2004 after my best friend invited me to go to Utah with her and her husband. After I saw some of the church history sites out there, I felt like there was more that I needed to know. After going to church and honestly searching the Scriptures and praying to know the truth, I felt the Holy Ghost testify to me that the church was true and that it was where I belonged. There is a peace that comes from knowing where I came from and where I am going and I am grateful for that.

How I live my faith

Living the gospel of Jesus Christ is more than just going to church on Sundays, even though that is definitely an important part. Even though I'm not perfect, I try to live my faith by following the commandments that we have been given. I live my faith by going to the Temple. The Temple is a wonderful, peaceful place where you can forget about the ways of the world and just focus on becoming closer to the Savior. I was a counselor for youth ages 14-18 for five summers at a summer camp through the church called Especially For Youth. Through this program I was able to teach the youth principles of the gospel and how we can all become closer to our Heavenly Father. It was an amazing experience that I would not trade for the world. I enjoy being with members of my young single adult ward. It is great to be surrounded with people of the same age with the same beliefs.
