Hi I'm John

I'm a husband of an amazing women, a father of five wonderful children, a college professor, a sports fan, an avid reader, a world traveler, and a disciple of Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Idaho, but in my adult life I've lived in England, Germany, Indiana, Idaho, Utah, and currently in Florida. I served a two-year mission in Southern Africa; that experience changed my life in more ways than I can number. My hobbies are reading, woodworking, playing and watching sports, cooking, and providing humanitarian service. I love to take road trips with my family. I serve as the seminary teacher in my ward.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that He has brought about a restoration of His church through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's church on the earth today and is the greatest vehicle, apart from the family, that God has given us to help us become like Him.

How I live my faith

While I am certainly one of the "weak things of the world," I know the Savior can make me better. Trusting in Him, I try to do what He would have me do each day of my life. Of course I fall short, but He has given me the gift of repentance to help me overcome those things that weigh me down. He has given me the chance to make covenants that bind me to Him and to my family. Those covenants are the main motivating force in my life.
