Hi I'm Eliza

I am a college student, part time baker, and I love to laugh. I'm Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student studying human development. I love learning and being a student! As well as going to school, I work at the campus bakery making brownies, cookies, and other desserts. When I am not studying, I enjoy running, playing soccer and the violin, singing, journal writing, and being with family and friends. Doing service is one of my passions. I have been on three humanitarian trips to Thailand and Costa Rica. I love being with people and trying to make a difference in the world. I love to hike and do anything outdoors, sing along to show tunes, and laugh.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because nothing else in my life brings me more joy! The truths that I know and live bring peace through hard times, and make the journey of life worth living. This joy is true, lasting happiness that can be felt no matter what. Being Mormon helps me live life on earth with perspective, knowing who I am, where I am going, and what I want to become. I have been blessed to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life. I have read the Book of Mormon and the Spirit has testified to me that it is true. I have seen and felt the happiness it has given me and want to share that with others. Being Mormon has helped me to become my best self, and also help those around me.

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon is a part of who I am. Every day I live my faith by studying the scriptures, praying to my Father in Heaven, and trying to lift and reach out to those around me. Once a week I attend church where I learn about Jesus Christ's life and teachings and how I can be more like Him. My ultimate goal in life is to become more like the Savior, Jesus Christ, and I strive to do this every day in small ways. In my congregation, I have been assigned to visit a few people each month to check up on them. I also attend the temple regularly, where I perform sacred ordinances. I feel peace and strength as I attend church and the temple and draw closer to God.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Living on this earth with so much going on, it is sometimes easy to focus on things immediately around us and forget the things of eternal importance. It is important, however, to remember our Heavenly Father, who created us and everything on this beautiful earth. His creations are all around us, and are evidence of His love for us. Remembering Him and striving to improve our relationship with Him will bring us greater joy and help us to focus on what matters most. Our Heavenly Father loves us perfectly and wants us to be close to Him. We can come to know our Heavenly Father personally as we pray to Him. He wants us to pray to Him, and to really talk to Him. We can talk to Him about our challenges and He will give us strength, love, and comfort, and can help us know what to do. We can also express our gratitude to Him in prayer for the many blessings He has given us. As we remember that we are children of God as we pray, we will come closer to Him. Reading and studying the scriptures is another way we can come to know our Heavenly Father. We can see how He has interacted with His children in the past and see manifestations of His love. We can read the testimonies of others and the sacred experiences they have had with God. We can also learn of His teachings and follow them. As we obey His commandments we will feel closer to God because we will be more like Him. Show more Show less
