Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a mother, illustrator, wife to a singer/actor and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live with my husband and four children (ages ranging from baby to 9 years) in beautiful suburban New Jersey, right outside of New York City. We moved here from Utah so my husband could pursue his acting career. We recently spent about 2 years living mostly apart while my husband was on a national tour, but through it all we maintained a strong sense of family and faith. Most of my life is filled up with caring for my family, but I also enjoy creating art. I have illustrated 4 children's books and done work for a few children's magazines. I have designed and continue to maintain websites for myself and my husband. I also love cooking, reading, gardening, singing, and traveling.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but I am also a convert. I had to come to a point in my life where I no longer just took my parents word for it, or that of my teachers, friends, or religious leaders. The confirmation of my faith has been and continues to be a multi-facteted and progressive experience.

How I live my faith

Having the gospel in our lives helped our family stay strong through two years of having to live apart while my husband toured the country and I stayed home with our children. Before my husband began his tour, we sat down as a family and talked about what we needed to do so we still felt like a family. We decided that we would continue to have daily family prayer over the phone or video chat, and that once a week we would have a Family Home Evening by video chat. As we made the extra effort to stay close as a family, we felt the blessings. It was really hard for my husband to be alone, and hard for me to care for the children by myself, but I felt the added strength of blessings for our commitment to each other and the gospel.
