Hi I'm Rick

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Upon graduating college I served 22 years as an officer in the US Army, serving two combat tours of duty in Vietnam. When I retired from the Army I became CEO of a group of reproductive genetics clinics and laboratories in Colorado and Arizona, once again retiring after 20 years. After my first wife of 34 years lost her battle with cancer, I married a high school sweetheart who had also lost her spouse to cancer and between us we have seven children, all grown and happily married. They have given us eleven grand children, of which one is married and has made us proud great-grand parents of two beautiful children, a girl and then a boy. We love to travel around the world and to spend time at our other home in the mountains where I can indulge in my favorite sport of fly fishing. We frequently attend stage shows, musical concerts and operas. We both love entertaining, collecting art, music and watching movies. I also love creating things in my tool shop and with the computer.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church and my parents did all they could to instill a respect for and to participate in all aspects of our religion. Despite this early training my faith wavered for way too many years however, through several dramatic spiritual and very personal events and the help of caring church leaders my testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel was rekindled and I was able to recapture the love I had known for God the Father, His son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. I know without a doubt that God works in our lives continuously and that through the atonement of Jesus Christ I am able to maintain my life in balance with my everyday responsibilities and what I know I must do to be true to the promises I have made with my Father in Heaven. As a member of Christ's Church here on earth I believe that I am better able to serve myself, my family and my fellow men through faithful service and adherence to God's plan of salvation for each of us.

How I live my faith

For the past twenty years I have tried to be diligent in my study of the scriptures and to turn to our Father in Heaven through daily prayer and whenever I feel that I need His guidance in my life. My wife and I have both served the members of the Church in the several congregations we have been associated with as home and visiting teachers, instructors in Sunday classes, planned and carried out church social activities throughout the year and regularly contribute fresh flower arrangements for our chapel. For the past several years I have served as a councilor to or have been the principle leader- Bishop - for our congregation.
