Hi I'm Amanda

I'm a doctoral student. I'm an Oregonian. I love to laugh. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a doctoral student of audiology. I love being a student because I love learning, and I love learning how to save the world from hearing loss. I am an older sister to two younger brothers who have or are serving a mission, and am blessed with great parents and an awesome family! I grew up in Portland, Oregon. I love the Northwest. I love the beautiful green, trees, rain, beach and mountains. I am moving to Pennsylvania for the next year to finish school and am excited for a new adventure. When I'm not working or going to school, I love to spend time with friends and family. I love hiking, running, spending time outside, football, movies, laughing and making chocolate chip cookies! I am a Mormon. I love Jesus Christ. I love the Gospel. It brings a joy to my life I couldn't find anywhere else.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want to be. I have grown up in the church my whole life, but I have learned for myself that it is the true church. The Gospel makes sense to me. It fits, and makes me feel whole. Jesus Christ is my Savior and without His love, support, grace and friendship, I would not be where I am today. By being obedient to His commandments I find that I am blessed and happier. I am a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon is a true book. I have read it, multiple times and each time I feel its calming, powerful influence on my life. I love it! I am a Mormon because I know that my family can be together forever. I love the temple, because of it, and Priesthood power, I can live with them forever, death has no power on us. I am a Mormon because it is the true church. Joseph Smith was visited by Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father and brought about the restoration of the fullness of the Gospel. He can't deny it. Neither can I. I am a Mormon because you can't find a happier people in all the world, and that joy comes from knowing that we have a Savior, Jesus Christ, who willingly suffered and died for each and every one of us, so that we will never be alone, never be lost, and always have a way back home to our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

Sometimes life gets really tough, and doesn't seem to go our way. Sometimes we can feel very alone, or afraid. Sometimes we have no where else to turn but to faith. I live my faith by choosing everyday to put my faith in God and Jesus Christ. Everyday I chose to not let these feelings or insecurities get to me. I'm not perfect at it, but I read my scriptures, I pray, I serve when I can, I go to church every Sunday, and take the Sacrament, I try to keep the Sabbath day holy by not studying on Sunday. I go to the temple, and I try to live a life worthy of living with my family, my Savior and my God eternally. Even though things can get really hard sometimes, but following the teachings of the prophet, and doing the things I've listed above, my faith grows, I grow closer to Jesus Christ and I find a pure and lasting happiness.
