Hi I'm Mara Whitworth

I grew up in California. I went on a mission to North Atlanta Georgia. I graduated from BYU. I run every day to keep healthy.

About Me

I graduated from BYU in Exersice Science. I was a research assistant in developmental biology doing cancer research. I enjoyed working with other people to solve problems. We found if we killed cancer cells in an organized way the cancer would not spread as much as if it were killed the cells in a disorganized way. I worked in a health facility with elderly and saved up enough to buy my first car. I feel joy in working and being productive. I feel better about my own person as I serve others.

Why I am a Mormon

I enjoy being Mormon because it gives me strength. The doctrine of the Atonement of Christ makes it possible for me to be happy in whatever circumstance. If I feel anxious or worried about the future, I trust the Savior already felt those feelings. He helps me not have those feelings anymore as I believe what he says at face-value. He says "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy ladden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). I am not currently in a position where I can live all my dreams such as being a professional in health care or having a future family but that does not stop me from trusting one day I can.

How I live my faith

I go on visits with the missionaries in our congregation to talk to people who want to hear more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. If asked, I will speak in church about topics they assign me such as charity or family history. Each time I participate as a member of this church, I am reminded how important it is to maintain a personal relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I feel validated as I participate in lessons in church on Sunday, visit members of the congregation, develop friendships, and play the piano at times as well.

Are Mormons Christians?

Mara Whitworth
Christianity is based in a firm faith in Jesus Christ. The Mormon faith believes Jesus Christ and accepts him as their Savior. We also believe it is through prophets that the Lord, Jesus Christ reveals his word. Just as there were prophets back in Moses's time, we have a prophet on the earth today named Thomas S. Monson. He is a witness of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
