Hi I'm Terry

I'm a mother of 4 and a grandmother to 13. I have a testimony of Jesus Christ and and is divine mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Mom of four children and a Grandmother to 13 grandchildren. I work full time in the insurance industry and help people make decisions when hard things have happened in their lives. From bumping into the post at the grocery store, to not being able to go back to a home or car after a wildfire has taken all you have. I talk to strangers all day long and hope that I can make a difference in their lives. I enjoy my time off with family and serving others around me. When the weather is good, I enjoy riding bikes with my husband of 34 years or piecing together a quilt. I love making a good loaf of whole wheat bread. It has taken me quite a while to get it right, but it seems to get rave reviews when I share it with others. It might sound a little boring, but after talking to people all day about hard things that happen in their lives, simple things helps me get thru the day. With some persuasion from my husband, I reluntanly, I took a class on beekeeping and we now have several bee hives in our back yard. I am now a certified BeeKeeper! He does most of the work and I wash the bottles to put the honey in. I have learned that they are amazing creatures that do a great service in our food cycle. As a "perk" we get to keep some of their honey. It goes well with my bread and I love sharing it with friends and neighbors.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that were members of the Mormon faith so I always felt this was were I belonged. As I began to raise a family of my own, I realized that I needed to know for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints was true, not just because my parents testified that it was true. I prayed in ernest to know for myself and after re-reading the Book of Mormon and asking Heavenly Father to help me to find my own testimony of His church, I remember specifically having the thoughts "you have always known it was true, why to you question?" That was over 30 years ago and I have no doubt that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true and was restored to the earth again. The principles that guide my life and the understanding I have of my Savior Jesus Christ, helps me in every aspect of my life and has given me all the hope I have needed when all hope seems to be lost. I know that He is involved in every aspect of our lives and recognizes when we have temporal and physical needs as well as spiritual needs. I know He hears and answers my prayers. I just have to be humble enough to take my needs to Him and then be humble enough to listen to the answers by the power of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

For the last 3 years I have been involved as the leader of the women's organization of the church for our ward. My responsibility is to make sure that each sister is visited on a monthly basis to make sure they are okay and to share a spiritual message with them. I help the women find opportunties to serve each other and in our community. We have been able to put together lap quilts for the Cancer Center in our area. Many cancer patients get cold while they are having their chemothepy sessions and a small quilt can really make a difference. They can't be reused by other patients so they can chose one and take it home as needed. I also have the responsibilty of going into a members home when they are struggling in their lives and may need assisstance with food. Under the direction of the leader of our ward, I sit with the family and assess their need for assistance and fill out an order that they can take to a church owned storehouse and have filled. In return, if able, the family can give service to others in the ward or community. My prime responsibility is to help mothers, wives and women in general strengthen their homes and families. At times this can be very challenging but the blessings are immeasuable as I see lives come closer to Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father.
