Hi I'm Shawn

I was born and raised in Colorado and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 25 year old trapped in a 39 year old body - but I can't complain. I am a dentist by profession, and a want-to-be pro snowboarder, wakeboarder, basketball player and rock star. I am no where close to being a pro at any of those but I sure have a fun time trying. I am a father of three and a husband of one (yes, that is a polygamists joke. I also like to tell jokes and am nowhere near pro status at that either.) I am a firm believer that one of the purposes of this life is to find joy - which I do in my family, with my friends, and by appreciating all the wonderful creations found in our world.

Why I am a Mormon

I was lucky enough to be born into the church. I use the word lucky because by far, being a member of the church has been a huge blessing in my life. By nature I am a seeker of truth and so I have richly enjoyed the truths that are taught in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I love the peace this knowledge brings me. I am so thankful that I know where I came from, I know why I am here, and I know where I will be going in the life to come. Through out my life I have seen nothing but blessings that have come from choosing to live my life in accordance to the teachings of the Savior. Living the gospel has brought me great joy in my life and I believe by continuing to live the gospel, my joy will continue to grow as well.

How I live my faith

Living my faith starts in my home. In our family we talk about, teach, and try our best to live according to the gospel of Jesus Christ. The relationship that I have with my wife is my first priority. The relationship that we have with our children comes next. My next priority is as a small business owner. I believe how I run my business is far more important than what I do for my business. I also try to be involved in the community and be a contributing citizen. But one of the truly rewarding things that I do is to spend time with the youth in our church. For years I served as a Scout Master for our local Boy Scout Troop. Now I teach an early morning religion class to High School Juniors. This year they are studying the Old Testament and I am having a ball sharing, learning and applying the teachings of the Old Testament with them.
