Hi I'm Rachell

I love good conversation, midnight snacking, BBC, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am your typical, run of the mill girl. I grew up in rural America, attended college in a much less rural area, majored in history, got married and now have a toddler. I suppose everyone truly does have something that makes them unique, it's just really hard to actually pin it down and put it into words. I am not super passionate about any one subject, or really good at a certain thing, or have a hobby that is especially prominent. However, I do love eating anything pickled, or smothered in chocolate (anything sugary thing, really). I enjoy spending time in the sunshine, watching my toddler discover life, picking out a tune on the piano, reading a witty book, and putting the baby to bed so I can spend some good quality time with my husband in front of the television. Like I said, just your average American girl.

Why I am a Mormon

I think life is hard for everyone. At some point or another, probably everyone shakes their fists at life and says, "This isn't what I signed up for!" It can be full of hard questions, unfairness, and sorrow. It's been challenging for me, and I haven't met anyone who says it's been easy for them. Whether it's daily frustrations or a life altering tragedy, following the gospel of Jesus Christ makes those burdens a whole lot easier to bear. I know that from personal experience. His gospel has answered so many of my questions, provided an understanding of who I am and who I am to become, and given me peace in moments of need. Knowing I am not alone in my struggles through life gives me strength and comfort. This makes me happy and I know because of Him my happiness can last forever. That is why I am and will continue to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Jesus Christ was an incredible teacher, and His greatest lessons were taught by example. Recently, I have come to realize the overriding lesson He consistently taught and teaches still is that of love, which is demonstrated in every act He performs, and was culminated by His atoning sacrifice. This has really struck me, because in the past I have not always loved others as I should. As I have tried harder in my life to love others daily, whether that's a stranger on the street or my closest friend, I just find I am so much happier and my life feels much more satisfying. I am so not perfect at this, and it is still something I have to work on constantly. Even though I still say and do stupid things, I think I am getting better. As I've continued to work on really being loving, like Christ was, I feel closer to Him, and feel I understand much better the love He has for everyone, including me.
