Hi I'm Alethea

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a new mother. My husband and I welcomed our sweet daughter after our 2 year anniversary. I love being a wife and mother. I love being crafty. I really enjoy painting ceramics, sketching and even crocheting. I love movies and being a total nerd on the computer. My main obsession right now is becoming an awesome cook! I'd love to have my own restaurant but I don't want that much work, so I decided I need my own cooking show.

Why I am a Mormon

I think that there comes a time in everyone's life where we are truly tested. It is this kind of experience that you can choose to come closer to the Savior or turn away from Him. In my case, I strove to come to a deeper and more meaningful relationship with my Savior. I spent hours in prayer, I purged my life of anything that was an obstacle to righteousness. I sought the continual guidance of the Holy Ghost. In so doing, I found myself becoming much more kind, more giving, more loving, more compassionate, and much, much more full of joy and peace. I know that my Heavenly Father heard and answered my prayers. I felt my Savior and Heavenly Father's love for me, and it made me want to be that much more better and worthy of their love and blessings. I know that the Savior loves each and every one of us. It was for this reason that he suffered in Gethsemane; that he bled from every pore. Then he allowed himself to be crucified on the cross. He suffered and died that we might be able to repent of our sins and be cleansed through His atoning sacrifice. He died and rose three days later, overcoming death, that we too may be resurrected one day. I know that our Heavenly Father loves us. He provided a plan and a way that we can return back to his presence, if we but prove to be valiant in this life. And I know that the only way we can return back to His presence is due to our Savior's overwhelming love for us - His sacrifice for us. The Savior is at the head of this church. He continues to guide us through modern revelation. He has called prophets and apostles to show us the way. I am so thankful to know that our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ love us so much that they have restored the fullness of the gospel.

How I live my faith

As a newlywed, I try to keep the Spirit in my home. I do this by reading the scriptures aloud with my daughter every evening...even if it is accompanied by the sounds of her light snoring. I have served in many positions and continue to do so in my congregation. I taught the 14 to 17 years during Sunday School for several years. I loved my calling! I learned so much from them...even when they were comparing gospel principles to Star Wars. I currently serve in the young girls organization that is comprised of girls 12 to 17 years of age. It has been so amazing to try and help guide these young women and watch them grow spiritually. It is such a huge blessing to be able to know and be a part of the youth of the church!

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Lifestyles vary from person to person. And so it is even within the Mormon culture. Sure we don't drink alcoholic beverages or coffee or tea...but that just leaves more room for hot chocolate! We dance, we sing, we have parties, we enjoy sports. I guess the main difference that might be notable is that we keep our activities wholesome. We attend church services on Sunday and we have additional activities during the week, on Wednesdays,as well. We keep the Sabbath day holy and we do not shop or go out to eat on Sundays. That just means Saturday is used in part to prepare for Sunday. I'd say that, overall, we're really not that much different than how many other faiths live. I think we're pretty normal.
