Hi I'm Devin Burr

I'm from Utah and now live in Medford, Oregon, with family as I attend medical school. I'm a Mormon and SF Giants fan!

About Me

I grew up in Salina, Utah, to a wonderful family that I love and appreciate. They are wonderful examples to me and I know their support strengthens me. I participated in many activities, but my favorite are definitely sports. I played basketball, baseball, football, and ran track. From these experiences I developed a strong love for sports. I love the Utah Jazz, BYU Cougars, San Francisco Giants and Liverpool FC. I attended college at Snow College and Brigham Young University where I majored in biology. I learned so many important things to help me find a career path that is best for my family and me. Currently, I attend medical school at Western University of Health Sciences in Lebanon, Oregon. Although it is extremely challenging and time-consuming, I love learning about the human body and how it works. I look forward to one day sharing that knowledge with others helping them overcome their pains and illnesses. It will definitely be a privilege. Finally, while attending college at BYU, I met a beautiful young lady with whom I fell in love. Marrying Megan was the greatest decision of my life. I know she loves me and supports me through anything. In February 2011, Megan gave birth to a little boy named Seth. We call him SJ, a name we found from the movie, The Blindside. In December 2013, we welcomed our second child, Molly, to our family

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that is what my Heavenly Father wants me to be. The Church teaches that Heavenly Father will listen to me if I pray and communicate with him. Through prayer, I have felt my Father's love confirming to me that I am one of His children and He loves me, principles of the Church. As I have strengthened my relationship with Heavenly Father, I prayed to know of the truthfullness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Book of Mormon. While difficult to explain what I felt, I know that Heavenly Father answered my prayer and confirmed to me that the Church is true and the Book of Mormon is another testament of my Savior to go along with the Bible. I have received numerous witnesses that I am living how Heavenly Father wants me to live. Being a Mormon makes me happy and I know that if I continue to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ I can be with my family forever. That understanding motivates me to work a little harder every day to be more like my Savior.

How I live my faith

Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provides the foundation of how I live my life. The Church is based on my Savior, Jesus Christ. Christ lived a life based on love, humility, and sacrifice. I want to emmulate Him the best I can. While playing baseball in high school, my coach taught me something that I will never forget. He told me to be better today than I was yesterday, and better tomorrow than I am today. Applying that principle on the baseball field helped me improve my swing as a hitter. I spent more time every day after practice taking swings. Because of that effort, I became a better hitter. Likewise, I know I am not perfect and make my mistakes. But if I try to improve myself every day I know that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ I can be cleansed and pure. It takes diligence and faith, but if I trust in Jesus Christ and follow Him everything will be okay.
