Hi I'm Dawn

I am a fitness instructor, a zumba instructor, a cook, a writer, a gardener, a wife, a mother of two, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was not raised by active members of the church. My parents divorced when I was young and my brother sister and I were tossed around from family to family for the first 10 years of my life. I learned the importance of being raised with stability at home by the lack there of in my own childhood. I went to college a short amount of time and worked as an Emergency Medical Technician after that. I met my husband when we were 16 years old, started dating 3 years later, and were married 2 years after that. We were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple and now have 2 children. Life is good being married to my best friend! I love the gospel! I love the church, it is like a second family to us, and I appreciate the opportunities I get to serve others.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel blessed to have been born into the church and taught the fundamentals of the gospel by extended family. I developed my own testimony in middle school as I began to study the New Testament and learn more of my Savior. From my own personal struggles I have found more answers and truth in the gospel of Jesus Christ than anywhere else. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has the fullness of the gospel and this knowledge has led me to live a happy and full-filling life.

How I live my faith

Life with a husband in pharmacy school, teaching fitness classes, caring for my two little boys, and full-filling my calling in the church can be quite overwhelming at times. I wouldn't have it any other way because I love every part of it! We work hard to keep the spirit in our home and the peace it brings to our lives helps stay happy and close to each other. Our children bring so much joy to our lives and we are so grateful for them. We know our family is our top priority.

What is faith?

"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence."-Helen Keller I believe without faith we are nothing. We must believe in something to progress in this life. Show more Show less

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

I believe men and women are created equal. I believe that by nature we have different gifts and responsibilities. It is not one of my responsibilities to hold and use the priesthood any more than it is for my husband to bear a child. I know our responsibilities are equally important and necessary. I am grateful for my ability to have and nurture my children. Show more Show less
