Hi I'm a Mormon

I'm Teresa. At 49, I prayed to find the true church. I never thought missionaries would show up at my front door.

About Me

I have worked in daycare for over 28 years. Even though I have enjoyed working with children, my heart is leading me into the caring of adults. I am going back to school to get a degree in psychology . I love helping people and often think of how grateful I am that I have people who are willing to help me. Visiting teaching is something I love to do. We visit with sisters in our ward, and find out if they have a need. Sometimes, just talking to someone is a great way to help someone have a better day. I have lots of hobbies including photography, sewing, crocheting, crafting, and jewelry making.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though all of my life I have been a member in another church, something was missing. I felt that I had not found Jesus Christ's true church. I had seen countless commercials about receiving a free book of mormon. I felt something stir within me in these commercials, but never called to receive my free mormon book. One day, two missionaries came to the house. They never made it to the front door. I stepped outside to get into my car and there they were. While my mom was telling them that we were not interested,I just knew God had sent them to me. I stepped out from behind her. I said, "Can you come back tomorrow?" When they returned the next day, we talked for a few minutes and then they taught me a little lesson. After the lesson, they asked me to pray about the church. I agreed. They came back two days later. During the lesson, I really felt that God was answering my prayer. This confirmed that this was the true church of Jesus Christ. I agreed to be baptized on March 20, 2010. I am a Mormon because this church is the true church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by remembering my promises to God. I believe in the power of prayer and read the scriptures. I love to go visit other members of the church. My calling is to call sisters and see if there is any needs in our church. The greatest gift I can give others is to be there when they need me. I am always ready to tell a joke or what positive thing has happened lately. Most of all, just being me is how I live my faith. I was searching when I found it, I knocked and the door was opened, and I listened to gain understanding. Basically, I prayed about this church and the truth was revealed to me.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

I believe you must ponder that Book of Mormon and pray if the church is true. You have to be really wanting an answer. If you are not sincere, as I was at first, the answer will not come. If you really seek, knock, pray, and read, you will have your answer. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

a Mormon
The testimony is a spiritual witness given to you by the Holy Ghost. It has many parts. It begins by reading the Book of Mormon, pondering (thinking about the passages) and earnestly praying for an answer. Then you will know that Heavenly Father lives and loves us; Jesus Christ lives, he is the son of God, Joseph Smith is a prophet of God, we have a living prophet today, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Savior's Church restored in this time.
