Hi I'm Garrett

I'm a small business owner. I love triathlon. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college graduate, husband, father, and small business owner. Being the youngest of six boys, I love sports. I grew up playing sports from little league soccer, basketball and football to college lacrosse. Today, I love triathlon, which consists of swimming, running, and cycling. Triathlon helps me stay healthy and also to manage the everyday stresses of being a business owner. I love spending time outdoors, especially in the mountains and at the lake. I love spending time with family and friends. I have five older brothers, four sisters-in-law and twenty-one nieces and nephews. I believe that the most important pursuit is that of a happy and fulfilling family life.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe in God and that he wants me to live a happy and meaningful life. I try to keep an open mind to the uplifting things that society has to offer but am yet to come across anything that provides as much happiness and meaning as living the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have learned these principles in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon church).

How I live my faith

Recently, I have been pondering what The Lord taught in Matthew 25:40, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." When I remember how the Lord loves each of us, and how he loves me, I find it easier to love those around me. This helps me be more patient with others, to forgive others, and to simply be more interested in other people and their well being. I try my best to live my faith at home and with my family. My top priority at home is my relationship with my wife. I believe that I can be sealed to her forever, even after this life, as I continue to live faithfully and righteously. Together with my wife, we try to provide a loving home for our young son, where he can learn the gospel of Jesus Christ and prepare to live in this exciting and ever changing world. I also serve as a counselor to the bishop of our local congregation. Some of my responsibilities include working with the young men in our area and ensuring they are being watched over and given meaningful opportunities to learn and serve. I try to live my faith by always striving to do a little better, to be a little kinder, to be a little more patient, to find simple ways to lift those around me, and to put the Lord first.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Mormons believe that grace is necessary to our salvation. In The Book of Mormon, we read "for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do." We believe that an individual must constantly strive to follow Christ the best he or she can to be qualified for the grace of God. Heavenly Father wants us to learn and grow in this life, so he has given us the gift of personal responsibility. Show more Show less
