Hi I'm Sara

I live in England and I LOVE being a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single lady in my early forties and have worked at an International Insurance Broker for the last 20 years. I love spending time with friends, reading, cross stitching and tracing my family tree.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were baptized into the church when I was just 4 years old so I have grown up with a church family. However there always comes a time in your life when you have to make the decision for yourself - whether being a member of the church is something you really want in your life. I remember reading the Book of Mormon when I was around 16 and praying hard to know if I was doing the right thing. I have always believed the Gospel but that night I felt such a warm, lovely feeling inside that just confirmed this is where I want my life to be :-) Within the church is everything that makes me happy!!!

How I live my faith

The church is everything to me and I love to live it. I have served in all kinds of positions within the church community and currently I teach the Sunday School class for the adults. It is a four year program that works through all the scriptures, we are just about to start studying the New Testament which is my favorite as I love to learn more about the Saviours life and help myslef and my class to be a little more like Him.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

We have a wonderful prophet today - Thomas S Monson. He presides over the worldwide church and is based at Church Headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. He has served in a variety of church positons for decades so came to the role of prophet very well prepared. He is the Lords mouthpiece for us all here on earth, telling us what God would do tell us if he were here. He has a wonderful cheerful disposition and loves to illustrate his points with true stories from his and others lives. We have lots of opportunities to hear him speak, but the best are every 6 months when a conference is held which is shown throughout the world - even over the internet and Pres Monson will always speak there - you come away so utterly uplifted!!! What is the Relief Society?

Relief Society is the organization in the church specifically for women with the motto Charity never faileth. All women aged 18 and over who are baptized into the church automatically become a member of it. We have a meeting each Sunday as part of our Church services including a lesson as well as various other midweek activities and get togethers - from service projects, to learning new skills, crafts or even book groups. Friends are more than welcome to come along with us. It is very much a part of the church organization and was organised on 17 March 1842. I love Relief Society - its three real objectives is to strengthen each woman, to strengthen home and families and to bring relief where needed all over the world. It is wonderful to be part of it and most of my best friendships come from working and meeting with the women I meet there. Show more Show less

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

The Holy Ghost is wonderful - He has so many roles he fulfills for us and each one is such a blessing. He is known in scripture as the Comforter, and is just that. In times of stress, worry, fear he can bring that peace to your heart and mind and you just know all will be well. He is the one who can tell us if what we are studying or praying about is true, again he helps us by bringing a feeling of rightness, peace and joy when we find truth. He can bring things to our rememberance - like when we are teaching a class and a scripture reference can pop into our minds that answers a question someone may have. He can also direct us by bringing thoughts to our mind of things we should or should not do, warning us and keeping us safe. He is one of the most important blessings in my life :-) Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is simply amazing - it is a book of scripture just as the Bible is. Where the Bible tells of the lives of the people who lived around the area of Israel, the Book of Mormon tells of the happenings on the American continent (from around 600BC to 440AD). It begins with a family led by the Lord from Jerusalem to sail across to the Americas where they inhabit and people the land. My very favorite part of the book is when the Saviour visits them after he is crucified. The New Teastament tells us that Jesus says 'other sheep I have which are not of this fold, them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice (John 10:16). The Nephites ( the people in the Americas) are one of those other groups of people Jesus was to visit. Show more Show less

What is the First Vision?

In 1820 a young man of 14 named Joseph Smith was interested in religion and had a desire to join a church but was very confused to know which one, as they all preached different things. So he read in the Bible James 1:5 that if a man lacked wisdom he should ask God. He went to a quiet place to pray and ask which church he should join, and was blessed with an amazing experience - God and Jesus Christ actually appeared to him and told him that none of the churches were true at that time, none were teaching pure doctrine. Joseph Smith was later directed to restore the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - the Mormons, which was the same church as when Christ was on the earth. Show more Show less
