Hi I'm Laura

I'm a mother of 3. I love reading, exercising, playing games, and spending time with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up with my mom and my sister. Although, my sister moved out when I went to Jr. High, so it was just me and Mom for a long time. I come from a party throwing, game playing family. We always had a lot of fun! My dad only lived an hour away and I saw him regularly too. My favorite times with him were when he took me camping. I went to a community college and a university. I taught 1st grade for 2 ½ years. Now I’m married to someone who makes me laugh every day and we have two hyper boys and one sweet girl. My husband works hard to keep us going during this hard economic time and I was blessed to teach preschool with a friend for a while, but after a recent move I am trying to figure out what to do now! I still love to play games with my family. We also love to go hiking in the desert, watch movies, swim, and cheer on our local sports teams. I also love to exercise and spend time outdoors, and I am trying hard to raise my family with a healthy lifestyle.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, although my dad hasn't gone to church since I was a baby. I remember a time when I was 12 when my Sunday school teacher made a promise to us that if we would read the Book of Mormon and pray to Heavenly Father and ask if it was true, that we would receive an answer. I went home that night and did what she suggested. I will never be able to forget the feelings I received as I prayed that night, I climbed into bed with an amazing and indescribable feeling from my head to my toes. I knew the book was true. I remember looking out the window and up into the sky and thinking over and over to myself, “I am a Child of God.” I have had other experiences since then that have reaffirmed that what I believe is true, but it is because of this experience that I continue to live the Mormon faith.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day by trying to keep the commandments of my Heavenly Father. I try to love and serve the people around me. At home we have family nights where we share talents, learn values and skills, and play games together. We also have daily family prayer and scripture study. I attend church every Sunday and sometimes meetings during the week, so I can be uplifted by others who have the same beliefs and goals. I also go with a friend each month to visit other women in the church to share a gospel message or just visit and see how they are doing.
