Hi I'm Rulon VanDyke

I grew up in a small town. I design wireless transceivers. I have a family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a farm in a small town. Through scouting I developed and interest in Ham radio. At age 16 I got my Novice license and built a transceiver from a kit that I used to talk with people all over the world in morse code. By the eight grade I knew I wanted to be an Electrical Engineer when I grew up. I served a mission in Brazil and then went to school at BYU were I earned a bachelors and masters degree in Electrical Engineering.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a small town where virtually everyone in the county was a Mormon. Other than 1 kid in high school I don't think I met a non-Mormon until I was 18. I was one of the shortest kids in the class growing up so I was picked on, or so I thought. I worried about what others thought of me. As a matter of fact I had a bleeding ulcer in the 5th grade because I worried about what others thought of me. At 19 I went on a mission for the church, mostly because all my friends when. This was a great blessing to me. I went from a small town of about 200 to living in Sao Paulo Brazil a city of about 20 million! I met a lot of people that didn't believe what I believed. It was there I found out for myself through scripture study and prayer that the gospel had been truly restored through the prophet Joseph Smith and that the Book of Mormon was true. I recognized that I needed to get my clues on how to live my life from Jesus Christ and not my peers. It was only then that my whole outlook on life changed. I believed in myself. I knew I could accomplish anything I wanted as long as I let Jesus Christ and the counsels of his prophets guide my life.

How I live my faith

I love Jesus Christ and his gospel. I wish everyone could find the peace that I have found by keeping the commandments and covenants that our Heavenly Father has given us. I try to be an example of Jesus Christ in all my conversations that I have with anyone and by the way I live my life. I love the youth and would wish nothing more for them than to follow the Holy Ghost in their lives.
