Hi I'm AR

I'm a pediatric intensive care unit nurse and a Latter-day Saint.

About Me

I enjoy my work at the University of the Philippines taking care of critically ill kids. I also love listening and singing to pop music, playing the piano, ballroom dancing, reading children's literature, and painting.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who were married for time and eternity in the temple and so I grew up in the Church. I thought that the testimony I have of the truthfulness of this gospel will always come slowly as I live the principles I learn and in turn receive the promised blessings. But one afternoon, in a religion class, as our teacher discussed the history and growth of the Church, I looked at a painting of the First Vision, with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appearing to the then 14-year old boy prophet Joseph Smith in the Sacred Grove. At that moment, overwhelming warmth and peace came over my whole being, and I felt the Holy Spirit testify to me that it was truly the beginning of the Restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ and the fulness of His gospel on the earth.

How I live my faith

My membership in the Church keeps me productively and happily busy with activities like community service projects, temple work, group home evenings, socials, dances, etc. As the ward Young Women leader, I work with 16-18 year old girls, preparing and teaching their Sunday lessons, overseeing their midweek activities, and helping them accomplish their Personal Progress. I also serve as a family history consultant, so I'm always ready to assist others who need help as they search for their deceased ancestors and provide saving ordinances for them. And as the music chairman, I gather hymns, singers, and pianists, and with them prepare sacred, beautiful music for our conferences. I just resigned from my dream government work to serve as a full-time missionary for the Church in the Dominican Republic and preach the gospel in Spanish for 18 months.
