Hi I'm Kathy

I enjoy decorating with old things, watching old movies, spending time with my family and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my best friend for almost 28 years. We have 4 children, 3 of them are adults. My favorite things to do are to hang out with my family playing games, talking and laughing. We love to camp, go boating, play disk golf and goof off. We have 3 dogs and 1 cat and they are a part of the family too. Pets are great! I work for the local school district as a parapro and I love working with children. On any given day something a child says can bring a smile to my face. Children are amazing and I am very blessed to have them be such a big part of my life. Some of my hobbies are: I love to go to garage sales, especially with my friends. I like to find fun and interesting items to decorate my home and yard with. Decorating is one of my favorite hobbies. I love to help friends re-invent their living spaces. I have sewn for years and now I am learning to quilt. I like making small items out of quilt blocks. I love to read and I love old movies, especially musicals. I love to listen to all kinds of music from country, pop. inspirational, to big bands. Good music can lift my spirit and bring joy to my day.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Mormon most of my life. My father was inactive until I was about 8 years old. My mom was a convert and joined the church when I was 4. I love being a Mormon. No matter where you go you have instant friends, people who want to help you be the best you can be. I am grateful to know families can be forever. I loved knowing who I am and why I am here. It made it easier to choose to follow my Heavenly Father's plan as a youth. I am so grateful to know my Savior and redeemer. He is the reason I am a member of this church. This is His church and it helps me follow him on the path leading to eternal life. I am grateful for a living Prophet of God who through revelation and inspiration guides and directs us to live righteously and follow God's plan. I am thankful for the scriptures, for the words of the Lord found not only in the Bible but also the Book of Mormon and other modern day revelation. Reading and pondering these books has brought insight and inspiration to my life. I am grateful for prayer and the fact that I know my Father in Heaven and His son Jesus Christ love me and will help me if I turn to them. I am thankful for the gift of the Holy Ghost in my life to help guide me on my journey here. He has comforted me and inspired me when I have needed guidance from my Heavenly Father. I know God lives and loves me. I know Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and through him we can return to our Father in Heaven. His love is so powerful and it can change lives. I am grateful for my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ brings me joy.

How I live my faith

I have learned so many skills just by serving in the church. It is amazing to me how the Lord provides opportunities for us to grow and develop so many different skills. I find I am able to help others because of the talents and skills I have been blessed with. One of my favorite programs in the the church is visiting teaching. I have gained so many dear friends in my life from this one program in the church. Each month a companion and I go and visit sisters we have been assigned to see. We teach gospel principles and serve these sisters. Through serving these sisters I gain a greater love for them and my life is blessed. Another wonderful program of the church is Family Home Evening. Each week we set time a side to spend as a family. Some nights we study and learn together, other times we play games and bond. It strengthens our family to have this time just to be together. As I serve the Lord I gain a better understanding of his plan and I am able to reach out in charity to my family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and community.
