Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a home educator, a home birther, mother of 7, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I share my two oldest boys with their Dad who lives 2500 miles away. My husband and I have four more sons and a daughter together. Our children fill our lives with joy, purpose, and lots of opportunities to develop patience. I maintain my license as an RN. It's been years since I've worked in the Nursing field, but I love to help care for the sick and hope to someday serve a humanitarian service mission. I love having my babies at home and teaching them at home. My hobbies include reading, gardening, creating healthy meals and playing outdoor games with my children.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were taught the gospel by Mormon missionaries about 8 years before I was born. They heeded the words of the living prophet, and by the time I came along they had developed a habit of daily prayer and scripture study each morning as a family. I learned the language of the scriptures as a child and have come to LOVE them. Studying the scriptures every day helps me understand the dealings of God with man. I can better recognize His hand guiding and blessing my life, through the ups and downs. I feel his love for me and it gives me the confidence to face challenges, and the desire to serve others. I also LOVE to hear the words of our living prophets in the Ensign magazine, and at General Conference. They are an anchor through the storms of life, and bless me with incredible peace. Best of all, when I was baptized (8 years old), I received the gift of the Holy Ghost to be my companion. I can't imagine life without the help, guidance, and comfort of God's Spirit. This is how He speaks to me directly. It is through the Holy Ghost that I have gained a sure testimony for myself that this is the true church of Jesus Christ, the kingdom of God on the earth. I am also very grateful to know that my family can be together forever if we keep God's commandments because we have been sealed in the temple.

How I live my faith

I focus my greatest time and energy on teaching my children. My goal is to help them understand and live the gospel of Jesus Christ, because I want them to be happy. I also work to keep my marriage strong, because I want to be with my husband forever! I've decided to accept every calling, or responsibility that is given to me through my church leaders, because I believe that is one way that God shows me where he would like me to channel my energy in serving others. I am currently serving as a Nursery Leader. For two hours each Sunday, while their parents attend or teach their own classes, I get to be with the children ages 18 months to 3 years old. We play, have snack time, sing together, and share a simple lesson about how to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am also a Cub Scout Den Leader. This is really fun! Once a week we have a den meeting at my home where 8-10 year old boys get to learn and practice new skills such as map reading, first aid, the importance of serving in their home and community, etc. I've come to love the Scouting program!
