Hi I'm Des

I'm a mother of four, a wife, a friend, and college graduate. I love the Lord and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love seeing new places with my wonderful husband and four fantastic children, especially when those places include sunshine, sand, and crystal clear water! I also love chocolate, books, live music, basketball, and hanging with my friends! I have a degree in microbiology and love learning about all aspects of science. I try to do my part to take care of this beautiful planet that God has blessed us with. It is amazing and I hope to see as much of it as I can during my lifetime!

Why I am a Mormon

For me, this is a simple answer. Through experience, I have learned that when I do my best to live according to the principles of Jesus Christ's teachings, I am happy! Not that my life is by any mean perfect and easy, but no matter what comes along, I can have peace, purpose, and assurance through faith in Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit that exists in my heart and my home. There have been times in my life when I have lived contrary to the Lord's commandments and teachings, and by comparison, during those times I felt alone and empty. I am a Mormon because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints offers the unique gift of having the fullness of Christ's gospel. This church is organized and led by Him in the same manner as His church was in biblical times. When I read the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and hear the words of our living prophet, my heart is filled with a peaceful assurance of the truth that Jesus is my Savior and that He loves all of us and has a great plan of happiness for us. I am directed to live a life of charity and love and to look forward to the future with hope. Through the Holy Ghost, I have received answers to prayers, inspiration, and comfort that I can not deny. They are as real to me as the sights and sounds I experience with my eyes and ears. Those experiences are my "proof" that this great message is real and true.

How I live my faith

I work with the youth in my ward, specifically the young women ages 14-15. I teach classes on Sunday about gospel subjects and help organize and carry out activities during the week that include service projects, developing talents, and of course fun! I am also blessed to be a Ward Missionary and Visiting Teacher. These callings give me the opportunity to develop fulfilling friendships with people in our community. As a ward missionary I do my best to reach out to those in our ward who may feel lonely and excluded, and also have the opportunity to share my beliefs with those who are interested in our church. As a Visiting Teacher, I visit other women in our church during the month, share and discuss a spiritual thought, and offer help for any thing they may be in need of. Participating in these areas has taught me to think less about my own needs, and more about the needs of others. I learn true love for my fellow man and have a great desire to serve them in any way that I can.
